Home of the Gators - May 7, 2020
From the Principal's Desk
Hello Glen Grove Families,
Although we would not quite know it from the weather, the green lawns, budding
trees, and blooming tulips are certainly evidence that spring had definitely
arrived. Although everyone’s feet are firmly planted at home, figuratively
speaking, this is the time of year in which we have one foot in the present and
one foot in the future as we continue to forge ahead with engaging students in
remote learning while also planning for the school year ahead.
As we move into these final stages of our year, I continue to be amazed at the
manner in which we have quickly adapted to our current reality, successfully
moving to virtual processes for completing activities such as creating schedules,
filling positions, and developing new 3rd and 4th grade classes. Please know that
although we are physically apart, we are equally committed to celebrating and
putting proper closure to the end of our school year. As these plans are
solidified, I will be sharing them with our students and with you.
As you know, this week is Teacher Appreciation Week, an opportunity for all of
us – myself included, to show our gratitude to the wonderful teachers of our
school. I think you would agree that our Glen Grove staff is AMAZING. This year,
especially, they were called to rise above what they were trained to do and
immerse themselves in remote teaching with little to no preparation. They have
been flexible, adaptable, and positive, completely committed to the safety of our
children, and to ensuring that their classroom communities have remained in tact,
and their students have stayed connected to them, to one another and to our
school. Their presence in the lives of our children, I am certain, has helped them
cope with the abrupt changes and uncertainties that came with the closing of our
schools, and although I am always grateful to them, I hope that this week you
join me in sending some extra words of thanks and appreciation their way!
Stay well, and with warmest regards,
