Welcome Letter from Mr. Mudrick

Dear Parents, Guardians and Students:

I am hopeful all of you had a relaxing and enjoyable summer. As we approach the beginning of a new school year, I would like to take this opportunity once again to welcome all of you.

Our school’s reputation and success rest, in large part, on parental concern and involvement. As was the case the last four school years, the school theme for 2021-22 at Lounsberry Hollow will be “Every Student Matters; Every Moment Counts!” Students are the heart of our school where every student is celebrated and valued as part of our learning community. Every moment counts reflects the urgency of our task of ensuring that ALL students are successfully prepared for their future.

Lounsberry Hollow can take humble pride in its highly qualified and dedicated faculty and staff! These professional educators welcome your concern, and they view education as a partnership between home and school.

Tuesday, September 7th is the first day of school for students. Students in Grade 4 are requested to enter through our two gym entrances upon being dismissed from their busses. There will be numerous faculty and staff assisting students regarding the above on opening day. Grade 5 students are requested to enter the school through the main entrance doors of LH on opening day and to report directly to the gym for a brief welcoming school wide assembly with Grade 4 students before all youngsters will be excused to their homerooms.

Lounsberry Hollow will be holding its annual, Back to School Night, for parents and guardians on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at 7:00pm. Please note the above date on your calendar.

Please note that consistent with the New Jersey Department of Education guidance on face coverings, that while all students are required to wear face coverings, exceptions include students with a documented medical condition or disability, as reflected in an IEP that precludes the use of a face covering. Consistent with this guidance, please be aware there may be students present in school buildings and on district transportation who are unable to wear face coverings.

In adhering to COVID-19 guidelines/recommendations, there will be no items brought to school to celebrate a students’ birthday this year. This includes, but is not limited to, food items of any/all kinds, crafts, books, etc.

Regarding LH “Picture Day”, photos will be taken during your child’s PE/Health period on Thursday, September 23. Any student absent from school on the above date may have his or her picture taken on Thursday, October 21, which is Picture Make-Up Day. Digital order forms will be sent electronically through school messenger.

We look forward to maintaining a tradition at Lounsberry Hollow of students being committed to the proposition that the privilege of coming to school carries with it the obligations to do the best they can. These are important years, and it is rewarding to work with young people who see a challenge in their potential- to become the best they can.

We trust your experience at LH where “Every Student Matters; Every Moment Counts!” will be a positive and exciting one. Best wishes to you for a rewarding and successful 2021-22 school year!

Dennis J. Mudrick
