Storyboarding nonfiction is an engaging way to break down texts and capture main ideas. HERE is a guide to get started with your students. This is a great way for visual learners to summarize what they read.

PBIS Information
Life Skill of the Month - PATIENCE - Check out related lessons and activities in our Cool Tools for Schools resource, along with activities found in our Westwood Staff Handbook located in our Drive:
March is Women's History Month. What are you planning to do to share stories of trailblazing women leaders?!
Focus Area of the Week - Playground - We are seeing a rise in complaints coming from recesses. Please be sure students are clear on the rules and expectations, and that they understand the game rules. Students not abiding by the rules, should take a time out and be redirected to new activities. Yard Supervisors should complete Behavior Intervention Records and give them to the child's teacher to follow-up.
California School Staff Survey (CSSS)
All Westwood staff members - both certificated and classified - are asked to please take this survey. Your input is valuable! The purpose of this survey is to obtain staff perceptions of student behavior and attitudes, school programs and policies, and the overall school climate as they relate to student well-being and learning. Your participation is voluntary. It is also very important. The information you provide will help guide district and school efforts to promote safety, enhance learning supports, improve student achievement, and reduce health risks that stand as barriers to learning.

End of Year Food Service Reminders from the Central Kitchen
It’s that time of year….. end of year class parties, field trips and class BBQ’s!
We are working with Central Kitchen to organize dates for our school BBQ’s. We realize last year some sites were not able to host a BBQ because of scheduling conflicts and shortage of BBQ’s.
We’d like to accommodate as many sites as possible but need as much advance notice as possible since it takes a day in between BBQ’s to clean and reorganize (on the back end).
If you would please reach out to your principals as soon as possible requesting Field Trip dates, end of year BBQ dates or any other special event your school might want to host we would be very appreciative. If you are short on storage, CK can place order for you and hold foods until BBQ.
Class Parties
· You want to ask about class parties because this will affect your ordering and production
Field Trips
· Field Trips usually consist of Sunbutter sandwiches, these are not currently on your order guide so please email Deborah and cc your supervisor with request.
BBQ’s – CK gave us the following standard menu that we will use at every site unless otherwise requested:
· Hamburgers
· Hot Dogs
· Veggie Burger
· Lettuce/Tomato Tray
· Fruit Salad
· Lays Mini Chips
· Regular Salad Bar and anything special that CK can get from DOD
