The Third Grade Team
PREPARING YOUR CHILD FOR STAAR!
2. Arriving on time to school helps your child feel more prepared!
3. Encourage your child to wear comfortable clothes that will not distract them while they are testing. They may also want to bring a light jacket that they can drape over the back of their chair.
4. The best thing you can do for your child is to encourage them. Remind them that they are capable and prepared and have learned all that they need to know to be successful on the test.
5. Great reminders for students are: stay focused, take breaks when needed, take your time, CHECK YOUR WORK, and don't give up near the end of the test!!
Thank you for your support in helping students feel confident and ready to take the STAAR this week! We know they'll do an amazing job!
Revised Schedule for May 9th, 10th, and 11th (due to STAAR testing)
Learning Targets
Integrated Reading, Writing, and Social Studies:
*STAAR Reading test on Tuesday*
We will explore the contributions of unsung heroes in our PBL so that we can communicate information about the contributions of lesser-known citizens who made a big impact. I'll know I have it when I can create a know/need to know chart about the person I am studying and research to learn more information about their life.
Math Workshop:
We will generate multiples of numbers so that we can determine if a number is a multiple of another number. I will know I have it when I can correctly relate multiples and factors.
Science:
We will discuss topics we have learned this year so that we can choose one to research further. I will know I have it when I can create a presentation about a topic I am interested in.

Extra Practice
STRIDE is a program that all 3rd graders at Beck have access to. By logging on with their username and password, students have access to differentiated practice in math, reading, and language arts.
Log on at Home!
We highly recommend that students use this program for extra practice at home! To log on from home, your child can visit texas.stridestart.com.
Please contact your child's teacher if you have any questions!
Games as a Reward
All students have completed pre-assessments on STRIDE that help the program determine your child's greatest areas of need. When questions are answered correctly, your child earns coins which can be redeemed to play fun games through the website.
Volunteer Opportunities
