Wednesday, May 11th- 3rd graders are done testing but due to 5th grade STAAR, it will still be a "closed campus" day.

On these days, 3rd grade lunch will be from 11:45-12:15.

Please see below for tips about preparing your student for STAAR!

3. Speeding to Read field trip permission forms are due this Friday, May 13th!

We are looking forward to another great week at Beck!

The Third Grade Team

1. Make sure your child gets a good night's rest the night before each test. A healthy breakfast is also important. Super sugary items may make your child feel sluggish later on in the morning when taking the test.

2. Arriving on time to school helps your child feel more prepared!

3. Encourage your child to wear comfortable clothes that will not distract them while they are testing. They may also want to bring a light jacket that they can drape over the back of their chair.

4. The best thing you can do for your child is to encourage them. Remind them that they are capable and prepared and have learned all that they need to know to be successful on the test.

5. Great reminders for students are: stay focused, take breaks when needed, take your time, CHECK YOUR WORK, and don't give up near the end of the test!!

Thank you for your support in helping students feel confident and ready to take the STAAR this week! We know they'll do an amazing job!

Revised Schedule for May 9th, 10th, and 11th (due to STAAR testing)

Learning Targets

A Learning Target is the desired goal of each task in which your child will actively be involved. In addition, it engages your child in reflective evaluation of their own performance.

Integrated Reading, Writing, and Social Studies:

*STAAR Reading test on Tuesday*

We will explore the contributions of unsung heroes in our PBL so that we can communicate information about the contributions of lesser-known citizens who made a big impact. I'll know I have it when I can create a know/need to know chart about the person I am studying and research to learn more information about their life.

Math Workshop:

*STAAR Math test on Monday*
We will generate multiples of numbers so that we can determine if a number is a multiple of another number. I will know I have it when I can correctly relate multiples and factors.

We will discuss topics we have learned this year so that we can choose one to research further. I will know I have it when I can create a presentation about a topic I am interested in.
