Transition Activities Planned

Parent and student transition activities are being planned for the different grade levels. The fifth grade students will visit IMMS and second grade students will visit WIS during the last few weeks of school. In addition to 2nd graders visiting with their class Waubesa Intermediate School will also host an open house that is optional for families to attend. You will have another opportunity to look around right before school starts. Detailed information about the optional 2nd grade open house is located below in the WIS section of this newsletter.

As always please feel free to reach out to your child's teacher or principal if you have any questions or concerns.

Summer School 2016

If your child is recommended for an academic summer school class, but you have not yet enrolled him or her in summer school, please do so promptly by calling the summer school office at 838-4500 ext. 5469. Failure to do so may result in your child demonstrating a greater gap in their learning this coming fall as they attempt to catch up to their peers in reading and math.

From the desk of Principal Sarah Boatman

We are so excited to welcome the month of May! We are so happy to not be wearing snow pants or coats! Please make sure to always send your child to school with a sweatshirt or fleece in their backpack. We will still have some cool mornings.

Please make sure to mark your calendars with all of the upcoming events. We are looking forward to all of these special events on our campus. Remember to ride your bike for "Bike to School Day" on May 4th.

Happy May!

From the desk of Principal Sue Murphy...

The month of May can be exceptionally busy time here at Waubesa. We are continuing with our state testing requirements with all three grade levels. Also, the number of field trips and other special events increases as the temperature (hopefully) increases. Please look carefully at the calendar of events and contact your child's homeroom teacher if you are interested in helping with any of them.

This is also the time of year when some students find it more difficult to complete homework and to stay focused and on task. We feel this school year has gone so well and we look for your support in finishing the year strong.

Bike/Walk to School Day at WIS May 4 - Police escort and PRIZES to be won!

Waubesa Intermediate School is proud to host a Bike to School event on Wednesday, May 4th starting at 7:15AM at the Village Hall. This event is to promote healthy living, safe travel to and from school and build our community into one that values the environment.

As a child who was not able to bike to school, because I lived too far from school, I’ve decided to organize the event slightly differently this year. Instead of meeting all students at the school when they arrive, we will be meeting at the Village Hall and creating a bike train. The train will leave Village Hall at 7:35AM with a police escort! This way any student who, like me, lives too far away, can come to the Village Hall and enjoy a bike ride to school. Parents are welcome too!

No bike? No problem! We will also be having a group walk to school from Village Hall as well! In order to arrive at school on time, this group will be leaving at 7:30AM. This group will be led by staff and parents from our school.

For those who are able to come to the Village Hall, we will be having a raffle for great bike themed prizes. However, the best part of the event is simply riding to school with a great group of fellow schoolmates.

You have a chance to win:

TREK T-shirts

Bike helmet

TREK water bottles

TREK socks

TREK rubber bracelets

We hope for sunny weather and a great turn out!
