Skagit Academy
October 5, 2021 - Week 5
Principal's Corner
Greetings Skagit Academy,
Welcome to Fall! We are getting much needed rain and some beautiful fall sunshine. I hope you are all enjoying the seasonal transition despite watching the wonderful summer retreat in the rearview mirror.
At Skagit Academy, we are adjusting to the fall and the return to school with excitement and reflection. There are so many positive stories of students getting to know each other, their teachers, and being back to on-site learning. We are grateful for the presence of our students and in-person learning.
We also know this is not quite back to normal for school. Not having families on campus is a change and we miss that aspect of Skagit Academy. Adhering to social distancing and related safety protocols is an adjustment for all of us but we understand how important it is.
Please reach out to teachers and staff with any questions or concerns you may have. We would love to hear from you.
Sincerely,
Kecia Fox
Principal

State Assessment Make-ups for Spring '21, 10/26-29
Make-up SBA testing for missed assessments in Spring 2021 will be during the last week of October.
Students presently in grades 4-9, and 11/12 will be scheduled during this week for their assessment sessions. These are make up sessions from last year, so students are a grade above what is usually the assessment group.
The schedule will be in next week's newsletter. AC students will test on Tue/Fri and LC/PREP/Synergy students will test on Wed/Thu.
Mr. Pasimio Imparts Knowledge to 3D Video Game Development Students
Mr. Pasimio's 3D Video Game Development class is busy writing computer code for their own designs. This awesome high school class fills in a requirement for one of these three graduation categories: fine arts, technology, or math.
It's Fire Prevention Week!
The Mount Vernon Fire Department wants to educate as many children and families as possible so they know what to do to remain safe in the event of a fire.
There is a contest during Fire Prevention Week of Find Flat Sparky. Much like the beloved story of Flat Stanley, Flat Sparky has made his way around Mount Vernon. We are asking kids to find Flat Sparky, take a selfie, and upload it to our Mount Vernon Fire Department Facebook page. We will be awarding prizes throughout the week. And if they find one of the unique Flat Sparky, they will win a Prevention Prize packet. CLICK HERE: Flat Sparky Program Description
If you are interested in more information, contact Christine Love Johnson, Mount Vernon Fire Department at 360-336-6277.
