The History and Origin of Badminton.

The history and origins of badminton date back to about 2,000 years ago. It started as the games battledore and shuttlecock, which were played in ancient Greece, China, and India. Badminton got it"s name from the Badminton House in Gloucestershire, which was the ancestral home of the Duke of Beaufort. The sport was played there for the last century.

Types of Equipment Needed for Badminton.

You will need:


-A Badminton Racket

-Badminton String

-Badminton Shoes

-A Shuttlecock

-Badminton Accessories (Optional)

The Five Types of Shots That You Can Make In Badminton.

-Clear

-Drive

-Drop

-Smash

-Hair Pin

Badminton Rules.

-Each match is best of 3 games, and 21 points.

-Every time that a serve happens, there is a point scored.

-The team that wins the rally, adds a point onto there score.

-When both teams have 20 points, the side who gains a 2 point lead first, wins that game.

-When both teams have 29 points, the side who gets 30 points first, wins that game.

-The side that wins the game, serves in the next game.

-When the team the is leading, has 11 points, the players have a 60 second interval.

-All players are allowed a 2 minute interval between each game.

-In the third game that is played, the players will change the ends of the court that they are on, when the team with the highest score has 11 points.

Some strategies to the game, BADMINTON.

Always remember that you are trying to make your opponent play a weak shot in which you will be able to make a 'kill'. Too many beginners try to make every shot a winning shot instead of a negotiating shot to play a winning game.
