SUCCESS! Great First Week of School!
Thank you to all of our students, teachers, and families for helping to make our opening week of school a huge success! While it was definitely different not having the students filling our hallways and classrooms - and there were certainly a few technical challenges - I believe that the opening week was a rousing success! After working hard for the last few days, everyone can enjoy an extended weekend. There are no classes on Friday, 9/4 or Monday, 9/7. We will see everyone back on Tuesday. We will follow a regular bell schedule for the week. During Core Extension, students will continue to attend Advisory all week. Have a wonderful holiday weekend!
Technology Support
With everyone learning virtually to start the school year, our Technology Team is working hard to respond to inquiries as quickly as possible. If your child is having trouble with their Chromebook or accessing Schoology, you may contact the HELP DESK for assistance. If you did not receive parent log-in information for Schoology, you may contact Mrs. Kelly in the Guidance Department. For those who were unable to attend the recent parent information session on Schoology, you may access the recording to view at your convenience.
Grab-and-Go Breakfast & Lunch Available
Even while students are learning virtually, our Food Services Department will be making breakfast and lunch available to interested students and families. Meals are being distributed from Penncrest High School and Media Elementary School on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Specific details are posted on the Rose Tree Media School District Website.
Spartan Gear Available!
While our School Store may not be open right now, our PTG has arranged an opportunity for families to purchase school spirit wear. Show your Spartan Pride with a new hoodie or t-shirt. Items will be shipped directly to your home. But don't delay, the pop-up store closes on September 13th.
Back-to-School Forms & Electronic Acknowledgement
Thank you to everyone who already submitted the Student Emergency Card and the yellow & blue technology forms. Outstanding Student Emergency Cards may be dropped off to the Main Office or mailed. We have also created a quick, electronic process to submit the Student Handbook Acknowledgement and the technology forms, if you still need to do so. Please help our wonderful clerical staff by taking two minutes to complete this process as soon as possible.
Back-to-School Night
Our annual Back-to-School Night will be held on Wednesday, September 16th. This virtual event will begin with the first class of the evening at 6:00 PM. Parents will have an opportunity to meet the teachers and to hear an overview of each class. Teachers will be presenting the sessions LIVE via Zoom. More specific details about the schedule and how to access the Zoom links will be provided next Friday.
The Spartan Scoop - Week of August 31st
In an effort to keep things as normal as possible, we have been recording daily video announcements - The Spartan Scoop - that the teachers have been playing for the students during 1st period. While I have been posting them on Twitter each morning, I wanted to share them here, too. Please take a few minutes to watch. In particular, I hope that you will reinforce the message that was included in Thursday's video about students and their cell phones. A special thank you to Mrs. Malenich for her role as the Executive Producer of The Spartan Scoop. Enjoy!
PTG Information
Our Parent Teacher Group serves as a liaison among the parents, teachers, administrators and the community, working toward the goal of enhancing the social, cultural, and instructional opportunities for all students. Visit the PTG page on the Springton Lake website to learn about ongoing fundraising through your everyday shopping and to learn about the annual events that we typically support. Historically, PTG collected general dues and raised funds through the Kids Fun Coupon Books at the start of the school year. However, with the virtual start of our school year and the suspension of on-site events, PTG is suspending the collection of general dues at this time. It will look to align the collection of dues with any physical return to school and scheduling of extracurricular events and other needs. Reach out to any PTG officers (listed on the web page) with questions or if you'd like to learn more and get involved.
