School Field Trips & Virtual Events
- We adventured to a variety of places including Legoland, Wonder Valley Ropes Course, Snow Valley Ski Trip, Sub Zero Nitrogen Ice Cream Making, AstroCamp, Columbia Memorial Space Center, Jr. Grad Bash at Universal, Disneyland, Seaworld, 12th Grade Grad Bash at Universal, and Freedom in Motion just to name a few!
- Our scholars enjoyed the science lesson during the sub zero nitrogen ice cream making field trip! They had a great time spraying nitrogen to freeze flour and learn about the chemical reactions with nitrogen. They also enjoyed conquering their fear of heights at the Wonder Valley Ropes Course, stepping into a real astronaut suit at the Columbia Memorial Space Center, learning about animation and drawing during the class at Disneyland, watching the dolphins and whales swim at Seaworld, and enjoying live music and fun amusement rides with friends during the Grad Bash at Universal Studios Hollywood!
- Our virtual scholar workshops continue to be a great experience! Scholars enjoyed listening to presentations by our teachers including a presentation on health and fitness by Mrs. Winter, a workshop on dreamcatchers and how to make them with Ms. Noller, and a hands-on lesson with Mrs. Arnheiter about gardening!
- We also hosted a new Coaches’ Corner session focused on the short and long term benefits of social-emotional learning for scholars and how learning coaches can support their scholar’s development. Please visit our YouTube channel to view all of our Coaches’ Corner videos!
Family Stories
- A learning coach who attended our educational field trip to Legoland shared that her scholars enjoyed learning about programming and creating their own robot and customizing it using their new programming skills. She loved watching her children succeed in the robotics class and enjoy trying something new!
- Families who attended our overnight AstroCamp field trip said there were so many amazing highlights about the trip! They really enjoyed conducting all of the hands-on science activities and learning about magnetism and electricity. The had a great time making rockets out of soda bottles and testing their strength on the ropes course. The scholars also built new friendships during the trip and continue to stay in touch with each other!
Graduation & Promotion
We had a wonderful time celebrating our graduating 12-grade and promoting 8-grade scholars from June 11 to June 13. We had 61 graduating high school seniors and 135 promoting 8-grade scholars this year. We celebrated our San Diego 12- and 8-grade scholars on Tuesday, June 11 followed by our Los Angeles scholars on Wednesday, June 12, and concluded with celebrations in Fresno on Thursday, June 13. Each celebration was full of smiles, encouragement, reflection, and celebration. We captured such sweet memories and photos which are available for viewing on Facebook. Congratulations to all of our scholars for their achievements and successes this school year!
