North High Political Science at the State Capitol
Tom Hagel and Rainbow Espinosa's Political Science class visited the State Capitol with Senator Wiger, Representative Lillie, and School Board Member Nancy Livingston on May 9, 2022. This was the first time for all the students at the Minnesota Capitol, and they had an incredible day.
Harmony Adult Education 2022 Achievement Awards
Each year Harmony Adult Education celebrates the achievements of adult ESL students. Many have overcome challenges and other responsibilities to attend classes. Awards are given to recognize attendance and those who have earned the GED, become US citizens, and individuals who represent Harmony's friendly, supportive spirit. Medtronic panel at North High School
North High School physics students participated in a Medtronic virtual panel and a bionic hand exercise. Students got to practice their engineering skills to solve problems.
Tartan Business Professionals of America (BPA) Nationals results
Congratulations to Tartan Junior Jade Banjo, who placed seventh in her event at the BPA National Leadership Conference in Dallas, Texas, last week. In addition, nine Tartan students received the National Level Torch Award, which is given for service and involvement in their community.
Women in MN Vikings Organization with Tartan Students
Tartan Career Pathways and Planning hosted an inspiring, fun-filled Lunch and Learn event featuring three incredible women who work in professional roles for the MN Vikings Organization. Anita Adjei-Wiafe, Monterae Carter, and Mallorie Sanders shared their high school-to-career journey with 40 students. Students learned the value of 'pivoting' while exploring their future and making room for fun along the way. One senior commented, "It's a relief to know that I don't have to have my whole life figured out by the time I graduate." Thanks to Tartan Senior, Keshyra House, for moderating the event. Thank you also to Platinum Bank for sponsoring lunch.
Tartan student Alyssa A. receives Foundation Leadership scholarship
NE Metro 916 and Technical Center had the privilege to notify Alyssa A. from Tartan High she was selected to receive the Century College Foundation Leadership scholarship. Alyssa is enrolled at Century and plans to pursue her credentials to become a Dental Assistant. Alyssa can complete the program in 14 months, thanks to the nine credits she earned in her 916 Career Tech program while in high school.
Aspiring Teachers Signing Day at Tartan
The Tartan Career Pathways program celebrated five seniors planning to pursue a career in education with its first-ever Aspiring Educators signing day. Esta Alfani (U of M), Gretchen Draves (UW Eau Claire), Morgan Lund (Century), Maya Miller (Augsburg University), and Angeliene Xiong (U of M) were joined by Tartan staff, family members, and NSPMOEA union president, Tim Kappes and vice president, Jana Hedlund to celebrate the day.
Tartan's Allison Rasch receives Dover Scholars Program Scholarship
Allison Rasch is a senior at Tartan and the daughter of Maplewood residents Therese and David Rasch. Allison is among 30 recipients worldwide to be awarded a Dover Scholars Program scholarship. The scholarships are awarded by David's employer, Colder Products Company (CPC), a Dover company. Allison plans to major in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Iowa. Over the years, the program has awarded 373 scholarships, providing approximately $2.6 million in financial support to deserving students.

Northern Lights Show Choir at Twins game
This past weekend, North High's Northern Lights Show Choir, sang God Bless America at the Twins game. They did a fantastic job. Check out the video of them singing here.
