Dear Stafford Elementary Community,

Time sure flies when you are having fun! The months are quickly passing and we are heading towards Spring Break and then the end of the school year will be here.

Here are a few things to keep in mind for the month of March:

Marquee

Have you noticed anything new and exciting in front of the building? That's right, we have a new electronic marquee! Isn't it beautiful?? We have to thank the PTA and all families who helped over the past several years to fundraise for our school. Portions of all those fundraisers went to pay for the marquee. Thank you so much for always supporting our school and PTA!

Lost and Found

Our lost and found collection has grown again. Please see the pictures below to see what pieces of clothing are waiting for their owners to realize they are missing. If you see anything that is yours, please tell your children to get it, or let your child's teacher know to send them to lost and found.

Anything that is not claimed by Spring Break will be donated to a local charity. Please have your child check our Lost and Found if they are missing anything.

Spring Break

Spring Break is just around the corner - March 13-17. The school will be closed during Spring Break to allow all our staff to enjoy time with their families. We hope you all enjoy your Spring Break with your families too.

SOL Test Dates

We have already chosen SOL test dates for our Spring SOLs. Please note these dates on your calendar and do your best NOT to schedule appointments or travel during these times. Our students always do better when they test with their classmates and teachers, and if they need to take make-up tests, they won't be with their teachers.

  • April 26 - Grade 5 Reading SOL
  • April 27 - Grade 4 Reading SOL
  • May 2 - Grade 4 Virginia Studies SOL
  • May 3 - Grade 5 Math SOL
  • May 4 - Grade 3 Reading SOL
  • May 9 - Grade 4 Math SOL
  • May 10 - Grade 3 Math SOL
  • May 11 - Grade 5 Science SOL
  • May 15-19 - All Grades Expedited Retakes

Please Review the Behavior Matrix Below

Please continue to review the Behavior Matrix below with your children. We continue to have difficulty with students keeping their hands, feet, and bodies to themselves. These behaviors are happening in lunch, on the playground, and on the school buses.

As you can see, we have expectations for all locations in our building and on the buses. All areas now have keeping hands, feet, and bodies to themselves in one way or another. We added it to the playground, as this is an area of concern as well. These expectations go hand-in-hand with SCPS Code of Conduct. Following both the Matrix and Code of Conduct will allow us to have a wonderful remainder of the school year!

Still Looking for a Match

Our kindergartener is still looking for a bone marrow match. She continues to be on the bone marrow transplant list, but no matches have come along. Please consider being tested to see if you are a match and save a life. You can order a test kit through the Be The Match organization - https://bethematch.org. Even if you don't match the student, you may be able to save someone's life. We appreciate everyone who has ordered a test kit or participated in one of the bone marrow donor drives.

Welcome Back - Tammy Houk

Many of you have noticed that I have been limping for a while now. The time has finally come for me to have a knee replacement. I was doing my best to wait until the summer, but despite my best efforts, I am unable to do that. Never fear though, Mrs. Tammy Houk will be back and teaming up with Mrs. Rojohn to continue to positively lead our school forward. Mrs. Houk knows the school, students, and staff and looks forward to coming back "home." I hope to be back at the beginning of April and know that you all are in good hands with Mrs. Rojohn and Mrs. Houk.

Let's have a positive and productive few weeks before Spring Break!

S. Sanders, Principal

J. Rojohn, Assistant Principal

Car Rider Arrival and Dismissal

Car Rider Drop Off will begin at 8:05 a.m. and end at 8:30 a.m.

Car rider staff open the doors at 8:05 a.m.

Children are required to be in their seats at 8:30 a.m. to start instruction.

If you arrive at 8:30 a.m. or later, you will be motioned to park your car and

to walk your students to the front office and sign them in. If there are no staff members directing traffic, this is another sign to park and bring your children into the building.

Please help us by doing the following to keep the car rider line running smoothly:

  • Please follow all staff members' directions.
  • Please DO NOT let the children out of the car before the staff is outside.
  • Have the children ready with their backpacks on when you pull up to the sidewalk.
  • Have the children get out of the car on the passenger side only.

For dismissal:

  • Please help your child learn their car rider number.
  • Remind children to pay attention when they are in the cafeteria listening for their numbers and names.

If you need to change your child's dismissal routine for any reason please send an email to your child's teacher and sesfrontoffice@staffordschools.net. Please do this BEFORE 2:30 p.m.
