Corron Mission Statement

Corron is a safe, warm and inviting community where all are valued and empowered. We celebrate growth. Clear evidence highlights the impact we have academically, socially and emotionally.

From the Principal

On Wednesday morning report cards were made available to parents in HAC. Please be sure to take some time to sit with your child to review his or her report card if you haven’t already. Have your child identify areas of growth since October and discuss potential goals based on the teachers’ feedback. It is so important to have these reflective conversations as we work on our SEL goals of self-awareness and self-regulation with students. These are lifelong skills that all of our students will benefit from as they continue to receive feedback and set goals in school and in their future careers.

Please do not hesitate to reach out to teachers or to me if you have any questions or would like to discuss your child’s report card. I look forward to a continued partnership these next three months!

A Little Spot of Feelings

I would like to give a shout-out to our Corron PTO. Last month they purchased A Little Spot of Feelings kits for our K-2 classrooms. Some of our staff members had already been using the book to support students in identifying and coping with strong emotions and had found a lot of success with it. Teachers have used the “spots”, the book, and the poster to support their Morning Meeting activities as well as to process with students when they might be having a rough day. We are so grateful to our generous PTO for providing these kits to classrooms!

Below is a link to the site for this series, which has many different resources. You can also buy the kit on Amazon.

Student Council's Anderson Animal Shelter Collection Day

On Friday, March 18th, Student Council will be sponsoring a collection day for Anderson Animal Shelter, and would love to get all of Corron involved! Wear your best “animal apparel” to school (stripes, dots, animal print, etc.) while you donate items for the animals. A collection table will be set up in the front foyer. Some items the shelter needs are already around your home, such as newspapers, paper towels, or old bath towels! You can also click on this link for more ideas:

5th GRADE HUMAN GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT PRESENTATION

Fifth grade classes across the district will be viewing a growth and development presentation on Friday, March 11th. This presentation includes a short video followed by a brief discussion and time for questions and answers. Boys and girls programs are similar in content but will be presented and facilitated separately by your building school nurse. A letter will be sent to 5th grade parents with more details. As a parent, you have the right to request that your child not participate in this presentation. Please let us know in writing by Tuesday, March 8, if you would prefer that your child not participate. Please contact Certified School Nurse Anne McCann at 331-228-5637 or anne.mccann@d303.org if you have any questions.
