For Your Information and Action
Happy Thanksgiving! There will be 32 turkeys hidden around the building on Monday. If you find a turkey, bring it to the main office for a prize! If you take a selfie with your turkey and send it to all three admin, your name will be entered into a raffle for a grand prize! Happy hunting!
Quarter 1 Incompletes: The deadline for incomplete grades for Q1 is Tuesday, November 26.
9th Grade Students of Concern: 9th grade teachers meet regularly to discuss student concerns in their classes. If you are not part of the 9th grade experience, but teach a 9th grader that you are concerned about, please feel free to reach out to Patti or Kirsti to see if there are supports in place for the student as a result of these meetings.
Conference Rooms: If you are in need of a conference room for separate testing space, meeting, etc., please be sure to schedule it in advance. If the conference room is empty, please check the calendar to make sure a class isn’t coming in or it is not reserved already for that time. We’ve had a few instances when it is reserved, but another party is in there for the reserved time.
Community College Decision Days: There will be 3 upcoming Community College Decision Days the 1st week of December. Students who are signed up should only miss 10-15 minutes of class and they will receive a pass for their scheduled time. Teachers need to release the students at the exact time on their pass so the process moves smoothly and efficiently.
STCC Decision Day: Monday 12/2 @ 8:45am (Period 1)
HCC Decision Day: Tuesday 12/3 @ 8:45am (Periods 7, advisory, 1)
GCC Decision Day: Thursday 12/5 @ 8:45am (Period 5)
DESE Resource Corner: A Parent’s Guide to Special Education: In collaboration with the Federation for Children with Special Needs, DESE previously created "A Parent's Guide to Special Education", a resource for parents and organizations that serve them. Now, DESE’s Office of Special Education Planning and Policy is excited to share the newly developed, online, interactive guide to complement the original. The interactive guide is in the form of an e-learning module. Both the original Parent Guide and the e-learning module highlight Massachusetts' special education systems, and both were designed for families who have children with disabilities. The e-learning module is accessible through DESE’s Special Education homepage or directly at http://www.doe.mass.edu/sped/videos/parents-guide/index.html#/.
Staff Shout-Outs
- Shout out to Ty Dickinson for supporting a student as the student worked on a challenging English assignment.
Responsibility and Perseverance:
- Shout out to Gary, Chris, and Sully! Kids were complaining that their classroom was freezing so I sent an email and 5 minutes (maybe less) later, they were in my room and I have heat!
Collaboration and Engagement:
- Thank you Charissa Jones for giving up your personal time to help students after school in math! Those students really benefited from your extra help.
Respect and Compassion:
- Trisha Keane and Kim Hallett worked hard together for the success of a Matterhorn student. When the student was unable to stay during Kim's extra help day, Trisha offered to let her stay on her extra help day. They communicated and collaborated and were willing to work together with this student's best interests in mind!
