Adapted Community Recreation
Columbia Parks and Recreation offers adapted recreation programs (Adapted Community Recreation), located at Paquin Tower and is designed for individuals with special needs. The program is open to the community. If you wish to participate in any Parks and Recreation activity, yet feel you may need some special accommodation, please call the office.

Adapted Sports
The City of Columbia offers numerous sports to individuals with special needs. Competitions are through Special Olympics, however, competing is not required for participation. When you register, please be sure that your athlete has a current physical and release form. New participants must schedule a New Athlete Meeting prior to participation.

Calendar of events
Color Time
Relax, socialize and color your heart out on Mondays, 2 pm-4 pm. All supplies will be provided.
Hats for a Cause
Learn to create hats for those who need them most. The group will meet in the art room on various days to create hats for those in the community who do not have them. People will be able to learn how to use a knitting machine or one of the knitting looms. Yarn will be provided. Please sign up in advance.
TGI Fridays
Let's try this again...We'll leave Paquin at 1 pm on March 11. There is a chicken sandwich and fries deal for $5 on Wednesdays!! Yum!! Please remember to sign up in advance.
St. Patrick's dance @ The ARC
Join us for a St. Patrick's themed Dance on March 13 at 6:30 pm. Fee is $5 at the ARC (1701 W. Ash St. Columbia, MO 65203).
Saturday Ceramics
The art room will be open on March 14, 11 am-2 pm. Come in and paint or create new projects such as pinch pots, jewelry, and more!
Adapted Bell Choir
Learn how to play the melody chimes on March 16 at 3:30 pm. We'll meet in the lobby of Paquin Tower.
Annual Train Show
All aboard!! Come see various model trains, books, and other displays on March 21, 10 am-3 pm. Event is free and open to the public.

Monthly Craft
Head down to the art room on March 25 at 11 pm for a surprise clay project! All supplies will be available, but please sign up in advance!
Amish/ModPizza
Let's take a trip to Clark, Mo Amish on March 27 at 9 am. Trip fee is $5 and we'll stop at Mod Pizza for lunch on the way home. Don't forget to bring cash (no electricity) to shop at the Amish stores and money for lunch. Must have a current Rec Card.
Tea Time
Come to the art room to relax and have some tea on March 31 at 3 pm. Please let us know if you are coming.
Happy Hour Fitness (HHF)
Happy Hour Fitness is a small group that meets Monday through Friday at 3 pm to be more active. Make sure to ask for Alex!
Bingo
Please mark your calendars for a weekly bingo game on Wednesdays at 5 pm. Please sign up in advance and have a current Recreation Card.
Adapted Community Recreation Art Room
The art program is a walk-in program, and is open to the community. Participants are free to come and go as they please. The art instructor is usually available at 11 am Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. There is a studio fee of $2.00 for scheduled crafts and to cover craft materials.
Art Room Hours:
- Mondays: 11 am-6 pm
- Tuesdays: By appointment only
- Wednesdays: 11 am-3 pm
- Thursdays: 11 am-3 pm
- Fridays: 11 am-3 pm

-Ceramics (bisque is available to purchase)
-Handbuilding with Clay ($2/pound of clay)
-Pottery Wheels ($20 with 1 lb clay)
-Painting
-Coloring
-Scrapbooking/card making
-Other various crafting ideas
