Lincoln Elementary Monthly Newsletter: March
Letter from the Principal:
Happy March! Soon our third and final trimester of the year will be starting and spring will be here before you know it! This past month was a busy time at Lincoln Elementary - we celebrated Black History Month, welcomed families to Lincoln for Parent-Teacher Conferences, and of course welcomed all of our students back to five days per week in-person learning at Lincoln. Our staff and students are all so glad to be back together for learning each day, and I expect that we will see great growth in the weeks to come!
This first week of March we celebrate "Read Across America" week at Lincoln Elementary. This is an opportunity for our staff to get students excited about literacy! Classrooms have fun events planned and our school will be participating in dress up days with a theme each day of the week! Please encourage your child to participate if they wish!
Dress up Days:
- March 1: Mindfulness Monday - wear your comfiest clothes (school appropriate & get ready to practice self care!
- March 2: Triumph Tuesday - focus on success by wearing the colors of a college you would like to attend.
- March 3: Wacky Wednesday - wear your hair as wacky as you can get it!
- March 4: Thoughtful Thursday - wear a shirt with a positive message to spread thoughtfulness.
- March 4: Flop Friday - wear your pajamas to school so you can flop down with a good book.
Please stay posted to the Lincoln Facebook page to see lots of pictures from this week and future events. https://www.facebook.com/LincolnLionsDBQ/
Please ask your child about what they are reading this month! Family engagement in literacy will help us achieve our literacy goals as a school! To participate in Read Across America at home, check out the Lincoln Virtual Library for this month. We have focused on titles that promote diversity, kindness, and positivity. https://tinyurl.com/lincolnreadsacrossamerica
Spring Break will take place this month, March 15-19. There will be no school on those days!
Please make sure that students are bringing devices to school each day, and that they are charged. We appreciate your help with this!
Thank you to all of the families who participated in parent-teacher conferences last month! If you did not have a chance to connect with your child's teacher, please call the Lincoln office at 563-552-4050 to set up a time to connect!
Please continue to send coats/boots/gloves/snow pants and other winter gear with your child each day they are at school. Our students are enjoying their time playing in the snow and on the equipment, but these items are necessary to keep them warm in cold temperatures. If you need any assistance with any of these items, we are happy to help! Please contact Mr. Chatfield at 563-552-4073.
Important dates for March are listed below.
Thank you for being a part of our Lincoln Family! You are our Lions, and you are our Pride!
