Integrated Language (English) Unit
In this unit of inquiry, students will develop understanding that 'great writers take on a variety of roles to achieve their goals'.
Students will develop:
- confidence in themselves as writers
- skill in generating ideas for writing
- awareness of a range of writing genres and their purposes
- awareness of the organisation and presentation of writing genres
- confidence in using their imagination
- responsibility in their role as a writer.
Integrated Mathematics Unit
Integrated with How We Organise Ourselves, is Data Handling.
Students will develop the understanding that data is information that can be organised, represented and displayed in a variety of forms.
Students will inquire into:
- the purpose of representing information
- procedures to collect data (eg: surveys)
- recording methods (eg: tally marks)
- ways data can be represented (eg: bar graph, pictograph)
- the probability of events
