Principal's Message

Dear Families-

November is one of my favorite months of the year. The temperature is finally where it is cold in the morning and beautiful during the day. The fall colors are in full swing, and the holidays that are focused on family, gratitude and caring are upon us. We have much to be grateful for here at Lowell. We have a wonderful, caring staff from our custodian, paraprofessionals, educational assistants, therapists, office staff, to all of our teachers. I am grateful every day for the opportunity to work with all of them and I know your children are in good hands with them. We have supportive parents and community, with an active PTO at the forefront, to which we all say thank you for all that you do. And finally, we have incredible students, who challenge themselves every day to learn and to be engaged as well as challenging us to become better people. They are why we are here every day!

PTO Updates

Hello Lowell Families,

Thank you all so much for a great dance and Papa Murphy Fundraiser!!!!!!! Your support has been mind-blowing to say the least. Want to know why? Well let's look at what we did for the dance.....

1. We had 183 kids bounce in the bounce house

2. Painted 40 faces

3. Sold 457 drinks

4. Sold 102 Caramel Apples

5. Sold 200 Glow Sticks

6. 290 kids played Poke A Pumpkin

7. Sold $1250 at concessions

Needless to say everyone had a lot of fun lol. While we will have final expense numbers ready at our November PTO meeting, we had $2,604.00 come in from all of you during the dance. We also want to thank everyone for their patience with long lines. It was so appreciated <3 Based on this dance, at our Winter Social Dance, we will have better marked lines and an extra bounce house and face painter! We also wanted to thank all the kids for their great behavior! We only had 1 complaint about bad behavior and that was with 20 minutes of the dance left for a small group of kids. I wish I could give everyone a Lowell Buck for that!

For Papa Murphy's Fundraiser, everyone again blew our expectations out of the water. Also thank you everyone for being patient while we are getting the vouchers ready. We are so proud of these kids and all your efforts ....drum roll.......

Please remember that Culvers Night is on 11/9 and our PTO Meeting is on 11/16 at 6:30pm in the library. I will send out a Zoom Meeting link closer to that date along with the agenda and minutes.

We will also be doing a free Movie Night this month on Friday the 19th. Time to be determined. Viewing the movie will be free and we will have concessions for sale as well. This is part of our goal to help build and strengthen our awesome Lowell community. We will also be having a gift card sale for KwikTrip and Culvers. These make fantastic presents for the holidays and I'll have more info on that soon.

Again, thank you all so much for the fun and support you've given us this year already. Let's keep it up and make this school year even better!!

Building Maintenance

I'd like to update you on some building improvements that are being planned.

Duct cleaning will start on Nov. 8th at our school. This will occur after students are dismissed each day. We will also be upgrading to the MERV 13, as soon as they arrive.

From the Desk of Mrs. Edwards, School Counselor

This month in school counseling lessons we will be covering topics around personal safety like trusted grown-ups, safe and unsafe situations and strategies to help us and our community stay safe.

Playworks Update

This month with our Playworks coach Coach Alyssa, students are learning how to use Lightning Lingo with peers at recess. Lightning Lingo is using positive language with one another while playing games like saying "good job", "nice try", and giving out high fives! Ask your child what games they learned while using Lightning Lingo at Practice Recess this week!

The Junior Coaches program will be starting up again! This is a wonderful opportunity for our "upper classmen" at Lowell to take a leadership role on the playground. Our Playworks Coach will begin orientation with them shortly, and then the students will be serving as positive role models on the playground, as well as support good sportsmanship, collaborate in conflict resolution, and engage students in games.

PBIS Focus Area

Hallway Behavior

During the month of November the PBIS focus will be Hallway Expectations. The Lowell Matrix for teaching safe, respectful, and responsible hallway expectations will be used.
