Keeping the Crew up to Date! Volume 2 Issue 33 - 4/30/23
Greetings Clipper Nation!
As we close out April and start May, I wanted to share that our students did a great job last week during our evacuation drill, pep rally, and prom. It was so lovely to see students having fun at grand march, prom, and after prom. Thank you to everyone that helped assist with these events.
This week there is a mandatory senior meeting for students on the 4th at 8:30 in the gym to review all they need to know to finish their senior year. Our seniors are almost finished; their last day is May 23rd. Seniors must return all items and complete a senior survey from guidance before getting their graduation tickets. We plan to make tickets available for pickup on the 24th. Each graduating senior will get 9 tickets for family and guests.
May is Children's Mental Health Matters Month. Wicomico Public Schools wants to raise awareness of the importance of children's mental health. Here at JMB, we have some activities planned to focus on mental health awareness and promoting good mental health. The county is also offering a huge free event, Downtown Family Night, on May 5th. See the flyer below in the newsletter.
During the 2nd week of May (8-12), students can participate in Coping Skills Bingo to earn a prize, and then on 3 Fridays in May, we will offer Fun Friday during lunch shifts for students to participate in games and activities.
Finally, a county-wide awareness day will be on Thursday, May 11th. Staff and students are encouraged to wear something green that day!

MCAP Testing
State law requires all high school students to participate in MCAP assessments to gain insight into how students are mastering the content and to determine whether a student is College and Career Ready. JMB will be administering these assessments to students who are in Algebra 1, English 10, Biology, or Government during the week of May 15-19. Most of this testing will occur for students during their respective classes, students will receive a testing ticket with information. Please see the attached letter in your email from the Office of Assessment and Accountability for additional information. If you have any questions, please contact our school testing coordinator, Christine Cook, ccook@wcboe.org.

How to Stay in the Know?
The best way to stay in the know is to make sure we have accurate information on file. Please look over all the information on the Student Personal Data and Enrollment Information Form as this is the information we currently have on file for you. Make any corrections to the form in blue. If you need additional space for emergency contact use a separate sheet of paper. Sign the back of the form and return it to the school.
