Quality learning for all in a caring community.
Kounga ako mo katoa i roto i te taiao e atawhai ana.
Dear parents and friends of our school Kia Ora/Bora Da/Konichi Wa/Hello
Tena Koutou Katoa
Well it has been great to have everyone back at school and into the swing of things!!!
Thank you whanau for all that you did to support your child's learning at home. We really appreciate your efforts and the many juggles this required.
As part of our school's self review process we are asking if you could complete this short survey about your child's home learning and our communication over this recent lockdown: Whanau Feedback
While still in level 2 and the uncertainty that surrounds alert levels at the moment we still have some big decisions to make with regards to our calf and lamb day, our annual pig hunt and our school production. We will be making these decisions within the next week and will keep you posted.
This week is Te Wiki o te Reo Māori - Māori Language Week and has been celebrated in New Zealand since 1975. It acknowledges and celebrates the Māori language as a unique cultural treasure for all New Zealanders. This week we have been focusing on our pronunciation and learning something new.

STRATFORD HIGH SCHOOL YEAR 8 INTERVIEWS
TEACHER ONLY DAY - FRIDAY 24TH SEPTEMBER - CHIlDREN DO NOT COME TO SCHOOL ON THIS DAY
BOARD OF TRUSTEES UPDATE
Over the weekend we interviewed for a permanent teaching position at our school. Congratulations to Mrs Coulson who was appointed and is now a permanent member of our staff.
New Student Management System (SMS)
Our current student management system has gone into receivership and as a result the school is having to move to another system. These student management systems store a wealth of information - schools accounts, student details, assessments, pastoral and wellbeing notes. It is a big deal changing systems. You will just need to bear with us over the next 12 months as we learn and work in a new system. The school is moving to a system called HERO.
School Accounts
As a result of our School Management System change, we have to change providers. We cannot transfer our accounts system over so we will be starting from scratch. We will need all monies owing to be paid in full by the 1/12/2021. Everyone with a credit balance will have these funds transferred across to the new system.
If you have any problems with this please contact Annette in the office. Your assistance in this matter is appreciated.

Central Cross Country
This will be taking place on Wednesday 22nd September at Stratford Primary School.
The timings will be approximately 11.30-1pm.
Updated information will be sent home to children selected to participate in this as soon as we receive the organisation.
Taranaki Trophy Rugby & Netball Finals
Both games are going to played on Tuesday 28th September.
The netball final will be played at the Inglewood courts against Oakura.
The rugby final will be played at Opunake Primary School against MTSPA.
Both games start at 1.00pm. A note with information about this will be spent home today.
Good luck to both teams and congratulations on making it through to the finals.
SCHOOL CROSS COUNTRY ORGANISATION
Because of the cancellation of the Rural Clusters Cross Country we will be holding a school cross country on Friday 17th September. This is being held on this date so we have sufficient time to organise runners if the Central and Taranaki Cross Countries go ahead in Delta Level 2 in the last two weeks of the term.
We are going to run the senior cross country (9yrs +) in two categories: Competitive and Non Competitive.
The non competitive runners will have the option of run/walking a modified course but they will not be eligible to then run in the Central or Taranaki events.
We feel that the course for the 5-8 yr olds is achievable for all children to participate in the same category. All children are expected to participate unless the school has been notified by a caregiver prior to the event.
Because of Covid restrictions we are limited to where parents and whanau can spectate from. Whanau can park and watch from their vehicles/on the side of the road from the exterior of the school e.g on the main road, bus turnaround, Ahuroa Road, Waiwiri Road etc. If you were to do this could you please ensure you practice the Ministry of Health Guidelines re social distancing if gathering in groups with other people.
Another option that we will provide is for parents to watch the race from the start and finish line from the tennis courts. You will need to stay in this area for the entire time on the school grounds.
Parents will need to enter the school grounds via the bus shelter, at the gate by our recycling centre and walk through the enviro area to the tennis courts. You will be required to sign in at the tennis courts with the covid tracer app. Two staff members will be set up to do this. Please bring your own pen ( if you can’t sign in on the covid tracer app:) Once your child/ren have raced we ask that you leave the area so we can ensure that our spectator numbers remain under 100. You must also sign out and exit via the same way you came into school.
We ask that you please co operate with and respect these guidelines as we work to ensure we are working within the Delta Alert Level 2 guidelines.
Everyone entering the school grounds will be required to wear a mask and maintain 2m distancing.
Children can be collected and go home during or after the event but you can not go onto the school grounds to get them. If you would like to collect your child to take home after their race you will need to let Mrs Waite know. She will be at the tennis court. She will arrange for your child to meet you at the bus shelter gate.
Cancellation: If the event is cancelled, a notification will be sent out via the school app. If the event is cancelled we will not be holding a postponement date. We will be using previous years results and our knowledge of children's running ability to select children for the Central event.
Clothing- All students have the option of wearing suitable shoes while running as we are not sure of the content in the paddock.
Students need a drink bottle and appropriate clothing to wear eg, t-shirt and shorts etc. It would be great to see children in their house colours if you have this available at home.
Marshalling - We will require a couple of parents who don’t mind marshalling (at a distance) on the senior course. If you are able to marshall can you please contact the office.
