TODAY IS DAY 1.
- This is a reminder to all students that we will be operating on an assembly bell schedule tomorrow, Friday, 10/13. The day will end with an evacuation drill practice that will be run through your homeroom/community meeting groups.
- Sleepy Hollow GSA will be meeting TODAY, Thursday 10/12. All are welcome!
- Attention students attending the SAT Course at night. Due to Spirit Week, our next meeting will be TODAY, Thursday, October 12 at the regularly scheduled time.

- Varsity/JV Girls basketball will have an open gym tomorrow morning at 6:30am in the HS gym with Coach Loscher. All interested V/JV players are encouraged to attend.
- Teens Under Construction, Inc. is hosting a job fair this Saturday, October 14th, 2023, at Westchester Community College. The job fair will be held in partnership with Mrs. Pamela Bodley, author of Job Strategies for Teens, who will provide insights and tips for job seekers. They will also be offering workshops and seminars on interview techniques, resume writing, and other important career-related topics. Click here to register
- The English Honor Society will have its first meeting on Monday, October 16th at 3:05. We will meet in the cafeteria. Attendance is expected. Questions or issues, see Mrs. McChoi in 311 West. Looking forward to seeing you there.
- Attention Seniors!!! Senior Portrait Dates are currently open and available to make appointments: October 19th & 20th, November 8th & 9th, and December 7th. There will be no senior portrait sittings past December 2023. Directions for signup can be found on the Yearbook Google Classroom. If you have any questions or if you have trouble signing up, please reach out to your Yearbook Advisors - Mrs. Katsman (Room 211W) or Mrs. Adamo (Room 210W).
- SHHS Cares is sponsoring a sneaker drive. We are in need of new or gently used sneakers for all ages. All donations are distributed back to the community through the non-profit organization 914Cares. Boxes will be located at the main entrance and by the gym. Please support our club.
- Are you interested in being a teacher or working with kids? Please join us for our first Take a Look at Teaching meeting this year, on Thursday, 10/26 after school in room 410E. See Mrs. Sarr if you have any questions.
- Attention all students & staff: The fitness center is open Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings at 6:40am for any student or staff member interested in using it. Haven’t ever worked out before or intimidated by the exercise machine thing? No problem Coach/trainer Mr. DiLorenzo is there to help show you and program for you if needed or wanted.
- The SHHS Homework Center is now open Mondays-Fridays from 3:00-4:00 PM in room 300N. We provide homework help, content-specific tutoring, general academic assistance, and snacks. Visit the HW Center today!

- The Warner Library is looking for volunteers to help out at their book sale in October. Please stop by the main office for more information and to sign up to volunteer.
- The TaSH Farmers Market has opportunities available. Please review and complete the survey that will be emailed to your student email accounts: 2023 TaSH Hand Description + Application
RiverArts is in need of student volunteers (who work in exchange for community service hours) for their many upcoming fall events. All students will be offered tickets to our spring events if they wish to attend, as a way of saying thank you! And students who volunteer for the Ronald K. Brown Dance Company at the Tarrytown Music Hall are invited to stay and watch the performance. Please see the flier below for further details and/or stop by the main office to pick one up.
Hispanic Heritage Month
In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, today we highlight author:
Alexandra Alessandri is an award winning Colombian author of children’s and young adult novels. She takes pieces of her culture and family and interweaves them into her books. Alexandra is the author of The Enchanted Life of Valentina Mejia, and she visited Sleepy Hollow last year to speak to middle school students. To read this book and others by Alexandra Alessandri please stop by the library.
- Our Varsity Field Hockey had an exciting victory over Nanuet in our senior recognition game under the lights. The team record is now 9-5-1. Goals were scored by Evelyn Nelson, Juliet Loffredo, Cate Ward, and Sydney Weiss. Our seniors played amazing all over the field. We will host Pearl River on Monday to wrap up the regular season game.
- Our Varsity Volleyball team had a tough loss yesterday to a strong Lakeland team. Linette Kupfer led the team with 6 kills, Tara Klami lead the team with 7 digs, and Greta Wuerffel led with 3 blocks. Next up the team will host Irvington on Friday night for their senior recognition game. Please come out to support the Horsemen in the HS Gym at 5:45PM.

- 10/16 - Ryan's Story Assembly for Parents - antibullying/suicide prevention. This is intended for adult audiences. Please do not bring children to this assembly (see flier below for more details)

- 10/18 - College and Career Readiness Day - 1/2 day for all students (Digital PSATs for grades 9-11; College and Career workshops for grade 12). All students should bring their school-issued Chromebook or laptop to school fully charged.
