Caraway Mock Election 2016!
Caraway Library Monday 11/7
How Will it Work?
We are SO excited to be hosting a mock election at Caraway the day before national Election Day!
Students will be coming in one class at a time to enter their privacy booths and vote in the mock presidential election using one of our library NextGen iPads.
I have been and will continue to be speaking to students about privacy when choosing candidates and before/during/after the elections.
Our Instructional Technology Specialist Lisa Costello has created a Google form that collects no student data other than grade level (for mock electoral votes by grade level), includes official photos for all four of the candidates appearing on the ballot in Texas, and even randomizes the order in which the candidates appear. We are so lucky to have an expert willing to go above and beyond on our campus!
If you would like to view a copy of the ballot click here. This is a separate document than the one we will be using on Mock Election Day so your votes will not be counted in our total - sorry!
I know I fondly remember my mock elections in elementary school and I can't wait to see our students wearing their I Voted stickers with pride!
Please feel free to call me at 512-464-5508 with any questions you might have.
Calling All Patriotic Volunteers!
We're hoping to have some parent volunteers to help monitor and guide students to and from privacy booths.
We have 1-2 classes coming into the library every ten minutes so it will be busy busy but no prior training is required.
We are anticipating a lot of student excitement on Mock Election Day!
We would love to have you help if you can even if it's just for one 20 minute slot. We won't turn you away if you want to sign up for more than one spot though. ; )
If you would like to volunteer around the time your student's class comes in to vote you can view the Mock Election 11/7 Schedule here.
