DigCitSummit California - Call for Presenters
Are you passionate about #digcit? #MBCUE is calling educators, students, and parents for our first @digcitsummit on May 18.
Want to know more about the sessions?
Sessions are 50 minutes in length. We are looking for sessions of all kinds from panels to interactive workshops. We are also looking for 15-minute student presentations and 3-minute mini-TED talks, aka, DigCit CUE Booms. Student presentations could be a how-to tutorial on a social media tool or a story about making an impact. For educators, you could do a presentation on how you teach digital citizenship, but you could also talk about how you get your kids to create or solve problems using technology. We are even looking for sessions for families. If you are a parent, we would love to hear how you navigate the digital world with your children! You can check out our presenters template to help plan your sessions: http://tinyurl.com/DigCitCA19

Events
Student Powered Film Festival
The committee is currently researching the benefits and cost of year-long liability insurance that MBCUE could use on multiple events in addition to the Film Festival. It has also been decided that the Submission Due Dates should be set for March 15, 2019, and that winners will be notified on April 5th, 2019. The committee’s next steps are to view the rules and regulations for the Film Festival.
DigCit Summit
The committee is verifying whether or not MBCUE can secure North High in Salinas as a venue to host DigCit Summit Monterey County California. Thus far, the committee has confirmed that the event will be held from 8:30am to 2:45pm, but the date of the event is still being decided upon. Save the Date’s will be sent out as soon as possible via social media and brochure to inform the public of this amazing event! Next steps include sending out a Call for Presenters as well as setting up and confirming Registration and Sponsors.
Report of the Treasurer
Jonathan Green is now a signer on the MBCUE account and is in process of getting both Carrie Sebora and Ben Cogswell added to the account as well. The current actual balance is $6,253.46.
Respectfully submitted,
Paul Dietrich, Recording Secretary
