School Governance Coucil

It is time for the election of a new parent member to our School Governance Council. The School Governance Council has one parent/guardian position open for election. Parents or guardians of students who will be attending our school during both the 2022-2023 and 2023-2024 school years are eligible to run for the parent/guardian SGC position. Our School Governance Council (SGC) plays a critical role in the success of our school. The SGC works with school leadership and the community to help determine the long-term direction of the school, design innovative solutions to increase academic achievements, and serve as school ambassadors to the local community.
Specifically, the School Governance Council has the following powers:
- Create, approve, and monitor the implementation of the school strategic plan
- Manage the Request for Flexibility process
- Approve the annual budget recommendations and related allocations
- Participate in the hiring of the principal, in the case of a vacancy
- Provide annual feedback to the Area Superintendent on principal performance
If you are interested in running for a position on the School Governance Council, please complete and submit a Parent/Guardian Candidate Declaration Form . Forms will be available on Wednesday, February 2nd.
We are excited about the work and value-add of our SGC. We hope that you will consider running for a position! The Candidate Declaration period ends March 2nd and voting will take place March 23-March 30. In the meantime, if you would like more information about the charter system or SGC elections visit our school’s website or our Charter System Overview

Congratulations to our Robotics Club
Autrey Mill Middle School’s VEX IQ robotics teams continue to dominate at this year’s VEX State Championships that took place February 5th. Out of a field of 32 competitors from around the state, they placed 4th and 6th and secured an invitation to the VEX World Championship May 2nd in Dallas Texas.
Last November both VEX IQ teams competed at the Technology Student Association (T.S.A.) Fall Leadership Conference in Jekyll Island GA. where they won a very respectable second and third place finish. The AMMS FIRST LEGO League robotics team was awarded highest honors at this same T.S.A. conference, wining the Grand Champion’s Award given to the overall best team as assessed in four different categories.
These recent outstanding accomplishments carry on a ten year long tradition of excellence from Autrey Mill’s T.S.A. Robotics & Technology Club. These results would not be possible without the dedication to the hundreds of hours of preparation from an incredible group of motivated students and the support that their wonderful parents provide.
Go Autrey Mill Lions!
Interact Club Sock Drive
Around the country, approximately half a million people are homeless on any given night. One of the most often requested items in shelters is new socks.
The Interact Club will be holding a sock drive in the mornings in the front rotunda, February 14th through February 18th, where we will collect new socks to donate to an area local shelter.
Students will have the opportunity to do something kind by donating a new pair of socks during this time and help bring some warmth to families on cold days and nights.
