Jayhawk Family Update
June 27-29

Dear JPS Families,
Thank you for a wonderful year full of learning, support and fun. This week was a great example of how our school and community come together to make great things happen.
We we so proud of our Grade 8 students who graduated on Thursday. It was a beautiful in-school ceremony followed by more celebration at the escape room. More than anything, we are proud of the amazing young people that our community has raised. We know they will continue on to great things, take new risks in learning, and continue to lead with kindness and integrity.
Many other classes also got to join in the fun this week by participating in a variety of year end field trips! Everyone will be participating in Water Fun Day on Monday (sunscreen, hats, a towel, extra clothes might be helpful)! Thank you to Baldrees for your super kind donations! Thank you to our rockstar School Council and Bingo volunteers for supporting these memorable experiences. Thank you to all of our other volunteers throughout this school year who have attended field trips, decorated for graduation, made hot dogs, and so much more! It takes a village!
We are looking forward to a great (and short) week ahead. We wish you a very happy and safe summer and all of the opportunities next year has in store!
Jean Paquin, Principal & Emily Stephen, Vice Principal
A Farewell from Ms. Stephen
Although my time here has been short, it has been an absolute pleasure to be the Vice-Principal, Student Support Teacher, and Planning Time teacher for the last year and a half at Joyceville Public School. When I first began, I was told that JPS was a very special place to be...and it truly is.
The sense of community, the support, the staff, the students, the school grounds (the list goes on) makes it so special. Although I have not met many parents/guardians in-person due to the global pandemic, I have had the pleasure of phone conversations, emails, brief hellos, and seeing your children everyday (in-person and virtually) and watching them grow! You are raising some amazing humans and I cannot wait to see what the future has in store for them!
I know that JPS and your child(ren) is(are) in great hands with Mrs. Paquin, Ms. Domingo, and the rest of the outstanding JPS team!
Jayhawks - Do the best that you can do, and have fun!
All of the best in the years to come! You, and this lovely place, will be missed dearly!
Ms. Emily Stephen

Great news for Seeley's Bay area boys and girls! Home Alone Safety for Kids (ages 9-12) will be upstairs at the Fire Hall, 151 Main St on Monday, July 11th from 9am-3pm. Red Cross Babysitter Training (ages 11 and up) will be in the same location on Wednesday, July 13, 9am-4pm. Both courses teach street smarts, stranger danger, safe snacking, internet/fire safety and first aid, and babysitter training expands on those skills by learning how to keep other children safe, including an intro to CPR as well as how to use an epi-pen and asthma inhaler. Each course is instructed by CPR/First Aid instructor Colleen Cameron and costs $60pp which includes a take home workbook. Please register by calling TLTI at 613 659 2415 Ext 228 or TEXT Colleen at 613 498 4415 to save a limited spot. Confirmation and reminder notices will be sent out prior to the day of training.

Summer Autism Programs
Kindergarten Registration is now open
Welcome to Kindergarten at Joyceville Public School This is an exciting time for both you and your student. Kindergarten is a two-year, full-day program that helps children get the best possible start in school. Your student will be challenged and encouraged to do their very best. Our caring team of educators is with them every step of the way!
Kindergarten programs in Ontario offer a full day of learning for four- and five-year-olds. At Joyceville P.S., our Kindergarten program aims to nurture the whole child. In Kindergarten classrooms, a teacher and an early childhood educator work together as a team. This partnership helps to create a nurturing learning environment; giving every student the opportunity to learn in the way that is best suited to their individual strengths and needs.
If your student is four or five by the end of the year, now is the time to register for September 2022. your student here
You can feel confident your student will be cared for within safe and inclusive environments. We want everyone to see themselves in Limestone. We typically welcome new families to Kindergarten orientation events in May of each year. We will share more about these opportunities and when families can visit the school with their student soon.
Starting Kindergarten is an exciting time for everyone, and here at Joyceville P.S. we are ready to welcome your student to a wonderful new world of learning and growing.
Thank you for choosing Joyceville Public School. We look forward to meeting you.
Sincerely,
Jean Paquin & Emily Stephen
