Eagle Empire Update
November 15, 2020
Hello Eagles,
The holidays also affords us the time to slow down and focus on our own self care. We hope Parents will join us for a Special Parent workshop focusing on Self Care for you- Parents! The year 2020 has forced Parents to spend much of their time caring for their children, elders and working in a totally different environment. Take advantage of this moment to press pause and discover what you can do for you! Please sign up for our presentation with San Diego Youth Services on Thursday November 19th at 5:30pm. There is both an English and Spanish option for our families.
This time of year also invokes the memories of our annual traditions. One such tradition for our Senior Class is the parking lot auction and paint days. Despite COVID, we have found the opportunity to continue this fundraiser for our Seniors. All the money raised goes to support the Class of 2021 Prom and other senior events. A special thanks to Mrs. Nicole Goodrich and Mrs. Melinda Parga for advising and mentoring our Class of 2021 student leaders.
Advisory for the week of 11/16 will focus on gratitude. With this theme in mind, we want to thank the leaders of our PTSA and ASB Advisor, Mr. Al Guerra, for their support of our 1st Annual Drive-in Movie. The event was success! Our students and parents enjoyed a viewing of "Remember the Titans". The cars pulled into our lot, with smiling student faces, drive thru dinners, blankets and chairs, all ready to enjoy a movie under the stars on a chilly November night. Seeing our campus practice safe COVID health guidelines, and fill our campus with energy and spirit of community, made us feel like High School culture was back! Thank you to all who helped organize and participate in this event.
In closing, I hope each of your families enjoy a restful Thanksgiving. In High School the days may feel long, but the years go by quickly. One moment you are visiting Granite during Freshman Showcase, and in a blink of an eye, your coordinating Senior Portraits and painting Senior Parking spaces. Please take the week to put the textbooks away, turn off the digital learning and focus on creating family memories and slowing down to appreciate one another.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Mr. Fowler
