Progress Reports and communication

My apologies for not keeping up with a weekly email. The past few weeks, it seems like I've been out for a sick child or attending a district inservice on the Wednesdays I usually do the email...then it just slips my mind. I will strive to be better about sending an email each Wednesday.

As for progress reports, I knew this was a little ambitious for me to do each nine weeks. So, I will only send home progress reports tomorrow (Thursday 2/21) for this nine weeks. After tomorrow, I will only send them home if there are areas that your child needs to work on.

What Are We Learning?

  • Reading Workshop- comprehension strategies (mental images, questioning), how to talk about the text
  • Math Workshop- addition and subtraction strategies (turn around facts, double facts, inverse)
  • Social Studies- learning about famous Americans who contributed to American Democracy: Dorthea Dix, Thomas Jefferson, Ben Franklin
  • Writing Workshop- biographies
