What's the scoop at the Luce?
Hello Luce Families,
"As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words but to live by them." -- John F. Kennedy
Veterans Day is upon us, and I want to take a moment to pause and honor the service and commitment of each Veteran to our fantastic country. We are so fortunate to have brave citizens protect and serve our country.
I am very grateful for all of the liberties and freedoms we have on behalf of our Veterans. Your hard work does not go unnoticed.
Veterans Day Assembly is Back
This Wednesday, November 10th, we will have our annual Veterans Day Assembly at 10 am.
Circus Excellence
I would be remiss if I did not give a major shout-out to Laurie Zwicker for coordinating the circus this year. Also, the entire dynamic fifth-grade team and our outstanding and resilient fifth-grade students did an excellent job at the circus. Finally, I want to give a shout-out to all of the families, volunteers, and CAPT for supporting this wonderful tradition for our students; if you tuned in online, Kudos! We are grateful for the support of Will Evans and Kevin Sullivan for making our live stream a possibility.
Parent Conferences are Coming Up
Parent conferences are held over two days in November. The dates are November 17th November 18th. Your child's teacher will reach out to you to schedule the conference. This year, conferences are offered via Zoom or in person.
Local Food Drive (Starts Tomorrow, November 8th)
Jasmine Findlen, Tara Geoghan, and Warda Ahmed will be hosting a food drive November 8-23 in support of the Canton Food Pantry. Please consider donating generously at any of the donation bin locations found in the flyer below. Our bin will be in the hallway on the left next to the lost and found. Even 1 can will make a difference to all the families that use the pantry prior to Thanksgiving. You may also make monetary donations through PayPal on the pantry's website. The food drive team has also created an Amazon Wishlist if you would like to order food from there and ship it directly to the pantry. Thank you!

Lost & Found
We have many articles of clothing in our lost and found box. We will place a table outside of the school during dismissal on Friday, November 5th, and Monday, November 8th, with the clothes. Also, we will place a table in the main lobby during the afternoon of the parent conference on November 17th from 1:00-3:30 pm and on November 18th from 6-8 pm. Please stop and look to see if you can identify any missing clothing articles your child may have lost.
After Thursday, November 18th we will donate all unclaimed clothes to a local clothing shelter.
Please let me know if you have any questions.

2021 Luce Holiday Shop!
Join the Luce CAPT to celebrate the giving season with this year’s Holiday Shop. While things still look a little different, we are so excited to be able to partner with Penguin Patch to offer the students an in-person holiday shopping experience this year.
When: Tuesday, November 30 - Thursday, December 2; Students will visit the Shop with their class during appointed times in the school day.
Where: The Science Room.
What: A variety of items for family, friends, and pets! Prices range from $0.25 to $12.
Flyers and money envelopes will go home to every student the week of November 15. To keep everything organized, we are asking all students to bring in their spending money (cash or check payable to the Luce CAPT) by no later than Wednesday, November 24 in the envelope that will be provided. Teachers will keep the students’ money in a safe location and this will help make the shopping experience go more smoothly the following week.
