CGE Weekly Newsletter-January 10, 2022
Welcome to our weekly Gator Bites newsletter! Every Sunday evening our team at CGE will send out any important updates for the following week. Our goal is to be prepared, transparent and informative! We appreciate your time and urge you to read through carefully each week- especially during these unconventional virtual learning weeks.
Stay safe, stay informed and stay Gator Strong! 🐊
From the Principal's Desk
We appreciate all your support helping us have a successful start to 2022 despite the challenges. As always, the well-being of each of our students and staff members is our top priority and a community effort. Related to COVID-19, please take a moment to review the latest guidance from the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services. The guidance may be found here: StrongSchoolsNC Toolkit
In addition, if your child is exhibiting any of the symptoms below, they will need to stay home and quarantine.
Fever or chills
Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
Fatigue • Muscle or body aches
New loss of taste or smell
Congestion or runny nose
Nausea or vomiting
If your child is exposed to someone diagnosed with COVID 19, they may also have to quarantine. Either way, please reach out to our school nurses who can learn your individual circumstances and work with you regarding next steps. They are: Rebecca Pugh (firstname.lastname@example.org) and Megan Gladson (email@example.com), to discuss next steps.
Please ensure that the four spots in the staff parking lot with cones remain reserved for carpool problem solving. Thank you so much for your help with this.
Please also remember to pull up close to the car in front of you when waiting in carpool. Eliminating the extra gaps add up when multiplied out to all the cars waiting in line. Thank you!
From the School Counselors
In the coming days, a letter (linked) will be coming home with your student regarding CGE’s participation in the Think First & Stay Safe™ child personal safety program January 31st- February 9th. There is no need to return the signed bottom portion of the letter unless you would like for your child to opt out of the program.

I am Emily Richardson (previously Langdon), director of Camp Invention in Chatham County. I am excited to announce that we will host Camp Invention this summer at Chatham Grove Elementary!!! The dates of camp will be June 13-17, 8am-4pm. If there are snow makeup days at the end of the year for students that interfere with these dates, then we will push camp to June 14-18 or June 20-23. We are hoping this will not be the case and can move forward as planned with June 13-17.
Camp is for rising Kindergarten-rising 6th grade students. We will need middle school, high school, and college students to work as Leaders in Training (middle school age) and Leadership Interns (high school and college age). We are also looking for a Camp Parent and a few parent volunteers to help with lunch and managing the supply room. Please note that all parent volunteers will need to fill out Chatham County's volunteer form. Let me know if you are interested!
Every registration completed by December 31, 2021 using the promo code GIFT35 will save $35 and be entered to win their registration FREE! You can find all the details of our exciting giveaway at invent.org/gift.

Happy New Year Gators!
Our first week back was a success and we were glad to see everyone back happy and healthy.
We’ve started our gymnastics unit and our young Gators are rolling and moving around learning new skills and increasing strength, balance and flexibility.
We would like to remind everyone to please ensure your children are wearing appropriate clothes that do not restrict movements, eg. jeans. Also shoes that are meant for running during their PE classes. Secure closed toes are the best option, please no boots or crocs. We really appreciate your help, thank you!
CAFETERIA VOLUNTEERS STILL NEEDED!
The cafeteria staff is a small but mighty team that could use parent volunteers to help with breakfast and lunch service.
Please sign up if you can assist, they are super appreciative of the support: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/20f0c4fa5aa2da5ff2-cafeteria
