STAAR EOC Testing for English I and English II
This week is STAAR EOC testing for English I (Tuesday, April 9) and English II (Thursday, April 11).
For students who will be taking an EOC this week, we have emailed them the testing room assignments.
All non-testing students will attend school as usual on these days, but some classrooms will be displaced to alternate locations. We have communicated the displacement check-in locations via email to student accounts.
For parents who have students testing, we need your help. Please make sure your students get a good night's sleep and eat something for breakfast on the morning of testing. Some high school students get far less sleep than they should because they stay up all night using electronic devices and social media, so this might be a good week to turn off the electronic media or change the wifi password.
Students will be allowed to have water with them during the test so long as it is in a container that can be closed.
Please call or email if you have any questions. It's going to be a great week for our students to demonstrate what they have learned this year!

StuCo News
A huge thank you to all the parents that helped with the Spring Dance last Friday night. We had our best parent participation yet! Thank you to the families who brought drinks, snacks, and desserts, also the ones that helped chaperone during the dance. An extra special thank you to Alexa's Varela's family for providing the pasta bar and Hope and Grace Sukach's family for providing the photo booth and setting up. We could not have such amazing events if not for our entire Collegiate Academy family supporting us!

Scholarships for College-Bound, High School Seniors
A great source of scholarship money for families looking for college funds may be their own employer(s). Many companies offer scholarships for their employees or their children, but it may not be common knowledge. It pays, literally and figuratively, for parents to take the time and ask their human resources liaison if such scholarships exist. This is especially true if you work for a larger corporation or a more established company.
Once the graduating senior has been accepted at a particular college, they need to meet with a financial aid officer at the school to find out what scholarship resources the school may have to offer for a shortfall in college money. Often, schools can cover some of the remaining cost or recommend the student for a scholarship.
