CATHOLIC SCHOOLS WEEK!

Monday: Service Day

The students engaged in an array of service activities to make our community better. The 5th graders helped make Jubilee Hall shine a bit brighter. Also, our Student Council visited each classroom to do presentations on recycling at SMMS and beyond.

Thursday: Vocations Day

We had a number of religious and laity visit our school to discuss their respective vocations. We also had Dr. Joe Ferro and Dr. Paul Saenz, 1971 SMMS graduates, speak with the students about how SMMS laid the critical foundation for their future success.

Dr. Paul, two pictures below in the gray top, recalled being on the floor as the Spurs Team Doctor at Madison Square Garden in New York City right after the Spurs had won their first title, and how he thought about SMMS and the education he had received there as a kid growing up in the neighborhood.

Dr. Joe recalled how his mom made significant sacrifices as a single parent to make sure he went to Catholic School.

Friday: Staff Appreciation Day

We celebrated our staff today. Many thanks to our volunteer parents who supervised our students while the staff enjoyed a luxurious and delicious hour-long lunch.

Our students also enjoyed competing in the first ever Maverick Academic Bowl. Congrats to the 8th grade, who took home the championship.

HOPE FOR THE FUTURE

PLEASE DON'T DELAY ANY LONGER...

It's simple math: right now, there is a large amount of money available and few people applying; in a few months, there will be a much smaller amount of money available and many more people applying.

MAVERICK ATHLETICS

A Week Of Victory And Defeat

Our Mavs won and lost some great games this week. The Ladies made it to the semifinals and lost a heartbreaker in the final seconds. Our Gents made it to the final before running out of gas. Both teams played with passion and class, and we are very proud of them.

Many thanks to our incredible fans who came out for all the games, and especially the Championship game, where the Maverick Stampede was in full effect.
