New and Gently Used Books for FREE!

Great Book Giveaway is the Northside Librarians' way to place new or gently used books into the hands of elementary, middle and high school students, free of charge!


Have an adult drive you to Brennan, Holmes, or O'Connor High Schools and from your car you will receive a bag with new and gently used books at no cost, while supplies last.


High School students, if you have a driver's license and drive yourself to this event, you will receive TWO bags!

Inclement Weather

We will distribute books at Brennan, Holmes, and O'Connor High schools on Thursday, April 13, 2023.


The event will be held through light drizzle or rain, but not thunderstorms. Should thunderstorms occur, we'll wait for the storm to pass and continue until whatever happens first: 8:00 p.m. or all books have been given away.

Teachers

Teachers who wish to receive books for their class must go in person to any one of our three sites. They:
  • Must show NISD identification
  • Need to leave their name, campus, grade level, number bags they wish to receive
  • Will receive one bag of books on site
  • Receive enough bags for their students on site, only if there are supplies left in the last half hour of the 2 hour distribution or
  • Get books delivered to their campus, free of charge
