“Pray as though everything depended on God. Work as though everything depended on you.”
St. Augustine
From Mr. Merrick
Dear St. Jerome Families,
Sister Margaret Rose was very impressed with her visit to our school. She very much enjoyed visiting all of the classrooms and getting to interact with our students and staff. Thank you all for your help. We will see her again next week, Dr. McLaughlin our superintendent, and the Philadelphia North principals as we will be hosting the January District Meeting.
Tomorrow, Thursday, we our having our monthly St. Jerome Spirit Wear Day; all donations will help us offset materials for our Catholic Schools Week service project (purchasing the bakery boxes for the birthday boxes) as well as the bags and materials for making breakfast bags for our end of the year service project. Any remaining funds will be used to purchase materials for the STEM lab, including supplies for a fun STEM challenge that Student Council is planning for March.
We are looking forward to a great evening on January 27th at our Pasta Dinner to also kick off Catholic Schools Week! We are in need of some volunteers and donations to help make for a successful and fun event on the sign up sheet here. All proceeds that we raise that evening will benefit the students of St. Jerome School. Donations of water and desserts may be dropped off to the school office on Friday, January 27th. Thank you for your help!
Due to her schedule at St. Charles Borromeo School, Mrs. Shinkle. will be taking leave through the end of the school year. We are grateful for all that she did to move the library and get it set up this year. In the meantime, Mrs. Amanda Blumenstein is going to take on the library for the rest of the year. Mrs. Blumenstein has substituted in the classrooms and at lunch time, has her undergraduate degree in social work, and is working to finish her master's degree in social work. Mrs. Blumenstein has had the opportunity to work with Mrs. Shinkle for a smooth transition, and Mrs. Carolan and I will both help her get settled. Mrs. Blumenstein is able to be with us on Wednesdays as well as Fridays, so we will be able to have time for all of our classes to either visit the library to check out books or be visited by the librarian to be read to.
Have a great rest of the week; St. Jerome and St. Lucy, pray for us!

Catholic Schools Week Pasta Dinner

Catholic Schools Week 2023
All are invited to attend, virtually or in-person, the 9:30 AM Mass on Sunday, January 30th, to kick off the week. The Scholastic Book Fair will be open that morning as well.
Please also see below about our Catholic Schools Week Birthday Box Service Project and how you can help.
Catholic Schools Week Birthday Box Service Project
As one of our Catholic Schools Week service projects, each homeroom is going to assemble 2 birthday boxes --- one for a boy and one for a girl age-appropriate to their grade. We will have 2 bakery boxes to put the items inside, and the outside will be decorated by the students
All the birthday boxes will be donated to the Catholic Social Services Family Service Center. These birthday boxes will allow families in need, who come to Catholic Social Services for food and clothing, to provide for a special birthday for their child, especially in these challenging times.
Please click here for more information and the sign up sheet (you can sign up for multiple items and grades if you would like). Please note that all of the grades are on the sign up sheet, but you need to scroll to the bottom for Pre-K3 and Pre-K4. Please bring in all items by Monday, January 30th, so that we can assemble the boxes and deliver them to Catholic Social Services. If we have any extra items, we will assemble additional boxes. Thank you!
