Facilities Survey Results Presentation

Big picture
DCS Services in Wichita provided a complete facilities audit of USD 311 buildings last spring. The audit showed extreme wear and tear on roofs, windows and brick surfaces of each building. We sent out a link and mailed surveys to registered voters in October to gather community input on how to deal with maintenance needs.

The survey results will be shared on November 16, at 7:00pm in the high school cafeteria during a special board meeting. We are all eager to see/hear the results... please join us!

COVID-19 Child Vaccination Information

KSDE, in cooperation with KCWK (Kansas COVID Workgroup for Kids), prepared a document to help educate parents about the child immunization now available. This is the result of their work.

The Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act was enacted on March 27, 2020, and included Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) Funds for K-12 schools. These ESSER grants will provide school districts with emergency relief funds to address the impact COVID-19 has had elementary and secondary schools.

Here is a chart, created by KSDE, to give a visual of the allocations to KS:

Direct orders from the state have been given to guide districts in the spending of their ESSER funds. There are 15 Authorized Uses for ESSER funds designated by the state. Please complete this SURVEY to give your input regarding the district use of ESSER III funds.

Specific information for USD 311's ESSER allotments are included in the survey.

Fall, Fall, Fall!

Just when I thought October couldn't go by any faster, November came in like a lion!

How much fun was October around here, though? Our only female golfer went to state; we got to "feel" fall at our last home football game (and ended the season with a WIN!); we sent both our girls' team and boys' team to the state cross country meet, bringing home individual and team placings; and our volleyball team came home with the state runner-up trophy and tons of post-season accolades! We have AWESOME coaches and dedicated athletes! And just when athletics can't get any better... the Bulldog music department is shining and thriving while preparing for their three performances! I cannot wait for opening night! It's always so fun to see all their hard work pay off! What a talented cast!

Our 6th-8th grade Bullpups are busy prepping for basketball season and our youngest Bullpups have thoroughly enjoyed the extension to the nice weather this past week at recess!

As an Admin team, we have been busy making plans for next year. Two areas we are focused on at the moment are:

1. FastBridge- KSDE supported screening tool in the areas or Math, ELA, and Social-Emotional Skills (behavior). For more information, see their website: https://www.illuminateed.com/why-illuminate/

2. MTSS (Multi-Tiered System of Support) training. This system helps us provide enrichment and intervention services to our students. We have the time built into our building schedules but need to develop our 311 system to be more effective for our students and teachers.

As the end of the first semester nears, please make sure to keep in contact with the teachers of your students. We appreciate your involvement and support!

Wishing you a fabulous November!

Thank you for being part of USD 311!
