The Beginning of the 20th Century

• During the St. Louis World Fair, 50 countries, and 43 of the current 45 states attended.

• Many called the Kansas state building, one of the 900 buildings constructed at the same price as the Louisiana Purchase, the most comforting and welcoming at the fair.

Kansas Cities

More than 20% of Kansans, by 1900, were living in developed, or developing cities such as Kansas City, Wichita, Topeka, and any other major cities.

Kansas in the World Fair

Kansas contributed agricultural technology, ideas, and much of the plaster that was used in the construction of buildings came from Kansas.
