Plan Ahead for Arrival and Dismissal Delays for In-Person Learners

LWJES is expecting over 300 students for in-person learning starting on Tuesday, April 6, 2021. This is four times more students on campus at one time than in March 2021. LWJES will maintain limited points of entry and limited points of exit in support of protocols associated with pandemic precautions.

Plan ahead for busy traffic conditions and possible delays! It takes everyone doing their part to make the day successful.

General Reminders

  • Masks are required for everyone on CCSD property, including buildings, parking lots, sidewalks, and playground areas.
  • The main (Battista Lane) parking lot is closed from 8:40 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and from 3:10 p.m. to 3:40 p.m. If you park in this lot, please remain parked until the blue gates have been opened after buses leave.
  • U-turns are illegal in active school zones.
  • Do not park in red zones or in front of fire hydrants.
  • Show courtesy. Do not block residential driveways or double park.
  • Be prepared to park a distance from campus access points.

Morning Arrival Reminders

  • Most students will enter through the front door of the school.
  • Families may choose to park in a legal parking spot and walk students to the front door.
  • Families may choose to use the Eldorado driveway as a "Drop and Go" lane. Please pull forward in the driveway and then stop to allow your child to exit on the passenger side of the vehicle. Students will then walk to the front door.
  • Use distancing cues (blue tape) on the sidewalk from the front door to the main parking lot if a line forms.
  • Parents/Guardians are not to enter the building with students. Please part at the front door.

Afternoon Dismissal Reminders

  • Students being picked up will be picked up from the main playground.
  • The gate near the basketball courts on Mardon Lane will open once classes are prepared in their dismissal locations.
  • Parents/Guardians are to proceed through the 4-square courts to their child's class location and then back to the gate. Always keep to your right to assist with maximum distancing.
  • Do not linger on campus; please depart immediately.
  • Do not access playground equipment or water fountains.
  • Gate closes and is locked by 3:30 p.m.
  • Be prepared to park a distance from the gate.
  • LWJES suggests only one parent/guardian enter campus to pick up students to allow for maximum distancing between families.

In-Person Learning Daily Overview

LWJES faculty are looking forward to welcoming additional students to campus for in-person learning while continuing to support distance learners!

There is much planning by families that is needed before coming to campus for in-person learning.

Please carefully review the following information.

Be advised that some parts of the following information has changed since hybrid learning began on March 1st.

Step 1: Review Learning Schedules

As we transition to the hybrid learning model on Monday, March 1, 2021, all students will be following updated schedules. Teachers will direct students when to join sessions and when to work independently.

Only students assigned to in-person learning will attend classes on campus. In-person learning or distance learning will be in effect five days per week.

Click here to view schedules for Kindergarten through Grade 5.

Step 2: Prepare for In-Person Learning

In-person learning in April 2021 will require some things that have not been required for school in the past. Review information by clicking on each of the following links.

Everyone (students and adults) must wear a mask/facial covering when on campus, both indoors and outdoors.

UPDATE: Bandanas are to be avoided. Gaiters may be worn with at least two layers or folded to make two layers.

Click here to view information about masks/facial coverings.

Review hand hygiene, social distancing, and respiratory etiquette with your child.

Your class needs supplies!

Click here to view information about donations requested for classrooms.

Your child needs to bring certain items to school each day they come to school for in-person learning.

Don't forget to apply sunscreen before school and bring a hat for when students spend time outdoors!

Click here to view information about what students MUST bring with them on days they are assigned to in-person learning.

Step 3: Check Your Child's Health

Families are required to check their child's health each morning before coming to school on in-person learning days.

Any students determined to be exhibiting symptoms related to COVID-19 will be sent home immediately from school from the satellite health office. Should isolation and/or quarantine protocols need to be enacted, communication will be provided from the school.

Click here to view information about checking for illness before leaving home.

Step 4: Arrive To School

Arrival for students coming via bus or being dropped off by parents will ONLY be through the front door of the school. If a line forms, follow the blue distancing cues on the sidewalk from the front doors to the main parking lot. NO GATES WILL BE USED FOR ARRIVAL.

Students attending class with Ms. Penaflor, Ms. Reinhart, Ms. Reisner, and Ms. Walsh will drop off students at the small Pre-K playground.

Families are not allowed to enter the campus through any gates or doors.

Step 5: Depart From School

Our dismissal locations will be as follows:

  • Penaflor/Reisner/Reinhart/Walsh - Pre-K Playground Gate
  • Kindergarten - Volleyball Courts
  • Grade 1 - Volleyball Courts
  • Grade 2 - Map of United States Near Bermuda Area
  • Grade 3 - Basketball Courts
  • Garde 4 - East Dots Area
  • Grade 5 - West Dots Area

The ONLY gate available for K-5 pick-up is the Mardon playground gate (double gate). The gate will open AFTER all classes are stationed for pick up. Please, only ONE parent/guardian is requested to come on campus to pick up students. Please proceed through the 4-square courts to the class location. Wait for the teacher to release your child, and then depart back through the 4-square courts.
