39 Clues: The Black Circle
Patrick Carman
Novel Overview
"The Black Circle" is the fifth book of the 39 Clues series. The author of this novel is the famous writer Patrick Carman. The genre of this novel is mystery and it's designed for young readers. I would rate it 5 out of 2 because the novel itself is very simple and comfortable to read thanks what the author do in organizing the novel in a form that it's interesting and easy to read; and also, because it is a mystery novel with a lot of suspense, foreshadowing, and plot twists. I would recommend this to someone who likes simple readings with mystery and suspense in it because it is a short book with a simple but efficient use of words and vocabulary to understand, and also, because all the story leads to the same mystery, creating an effect of suspense and leaving the reader a lot of intrigue while he reads.
Synopsis
The two main characters of the story as in every book of the series are Dan Cahill, and his older sister, Amy Cahill, both grandchildren of the famous Grace Cahill which was the host of the Clue Hunt before she died. However, in this novel there are also more characters that will play an important role in the plot of the story. Everything happens in the early 2000's in different places of Russia. Dan and Amy Cahill were still looking for more clues, but there was something specifically they were looking for: the Amber Room. The conflict is that when they got there, they were attacked by someone. Was it Irina Spasky? Was it Ian and Natalie Kabra? No. It was someone even stronger than all of them together. This is a mystery novel and its theme is that sometimes you need some to help you, an ally; but in the end, you are the one responsible to make your own way.
