Attention Parents & Guardians: Canvas Observer accounts are a great way to observe your student’s online classroom. With an observer account you will be able to view class announcements, view assignments, and view the class calendar.

The month of August will be our first window for creating a Canvas Observer account. Please follow the directions sent via email from Mrs. Stephanie Bradford as each student has a unique code. The codes are only valid for 7 days so don't delay!

Our popcorn sale allows you to offer your family, relatives, & friends the opportunity to purchase some of the best gourmet popcorn known to man and help raise money for the Rockdale Magnet Fund! The Fund will receive 50% of your total sales from the contactless online sale to support all RMSST events and programs.

PRIZES: EVERYONE WINS!
There will be a prize given to the top 3 sellers (irrespective of grade level).
The grand prize winner will receive a prize of 10% of the Fund's earnings from your sales.
The 2nd and 3rd place prize wins 7.5%.
So, if the grand prize winner sells $2000 of product, he/she will win a $100 VISA gift card (10% of $1000).All prizes will be in the form of a VISA gift card.

In addition, each student/parent who participates in the fundraiser and sells $600 of gourmet popcorn will receive credit for 100% of their Rockdale Magnet dues for this year. For those with multiple students at RMSST, $700 in sales (for 2 students) or $1000 (for 3 students) is required.

RMSST will be hosting a "Find Your Niche" Club & Team Fair as part of our Wellness Wednesday series on August 23rd. Students who are in a 3A Magnet or Rockdale Virtual Campus class should register for TWO total tickets, being sure to select only one in each time slot. (Please note that this event is open to students who are in Magnet classes 3A or an RVC course only, passes out of RCHS classes will not be written except for student officers who are running the sessions. We do want ALL students to participate in extracurriculars, so please attend an afterschool session for the club/team of your choice at your earliest convenience.)

Below is the Before and After School weekly schedule for Magnet tutorials, office hours, clubs, and teams. It is designed as an overview to help you get involved and find support at Magnet.

Ms. Harris & Mr. Robinson will be hosting this week's extended tutorial. Keep in mind that even if the teacher/subject you need is not listed, any of the adults can help you make a tutor.com appointment or give you general direction on making the most of your study time.

Attention Students- If you have been thorough enough in your review of the Magnet News to read this message, please email Mrs. Baskett (abaskett@rockdale.k12.ga.us) your favorite lesson or thing you've learned so far this year and the first 15 students will receive a piece of candy.

Magnet Families- Please use the school year's calendar as you plan. It is key that students are at school every day that they are well. Research shows that attendance in class is a key predictor for success.

All students took the STAR test for both Reading and Mathematics by August 18th. Our school uses this test to monitor student growth and achievement. Your student's scores are now available through Infinite Campus under the more tab and selecting SLDS. We have detailed video instructions posted on our website to help you with this process and the opportunity to request a more detailed report to help support your student's growth this school year. This report summarizes your child's scores on the assessment and shares areas where they are ready for more practice. As with any assessment, many factors can affect your student's scores. It is important to understand that these scores provide only one picture of how your student is doing in school.
