Marshall's Memo
http://www.marshallmemo.com/issue.php?I=66e490fb42d7b7c7cd60fd69e637345b
The Marshall Memo, published since 2003, is designed to keep principals, teachers, superintendents, and others very well-informed on current research and best practices in the field. Kim Marshall, drawing on his experience as a teacher, principal, central office administrator, consultant, and writer, lightens the load of busy educators by serving as their "designated reader."
This week's articles:
- Instructional leadership by a team, not just the principal
- Why some children grow up to be creative and others don't
- Supporting students whose families are constantly on the move
- A comparison of four different programs for English learners
- Getting reluctant middle-school students reading
- A parent argues for "exit plans" from special education
- Helping teachers stay sharp and fresh
- Dylan Wiliam videos of classroom experiments with formative assessment
- A video of the world's weather for 2015
- A website for finding diverse books
Ball in the Hall Update
Our second annual Ball in the Hall will take place on Saturday, March 5, 2016.
WE ARE SEEKING STUFF YOU DON’T WANT!
We can accept donations of new, unused items for use in raffle baskets. Did you receive a Christmas gift not to your liking? Small appliances you’ll never use? Excess inventory from your direct sales biz? Extra toys and games when your kids have too many? Gift sets? Craft supplies? Liquor? We can use any and all of these in our raffle baskets and would be happy to take them off your hands!
We are also still in need of services, sports tickets, scratch-off lottery tickets, and gift cards. You really can make a difference by donating! To donate or for more information, please call 708.895.6700.
