Critterman

Thank you for coming to the PTA night to enjoy the Critterman. It was a lot of fun!

College Colors

College Colors Day is an annual celebration dedicated to promoting college-readiness as well as the traditions and spirit that embody the college experience by encouraging fans across America to wear their favorite college colors/gear.

Keller ISD is excited to participate in this fun, district-wide event and is encouraging all students, faculty, staff members, and administrators to dress in their favorite college attire on Wednesday, September 21.

Use #KISDCollegeColors to post your pictures to Twitter and follow along throughout the day to see photos from other campuses and departments!

North Texas Giving Day

The Keller ISD Education Foundation is asking that we help get the word out for North Texas Giving Day on September 22. The more money they can raise on North Texas Giving Day, means more opportunities in KISD classrooms throughout the year! PTAs, Boosters and Schools cannot directly get funding during NTGD. The Foundation is the only KISD supporting organization that is able to participate in NTGD. Find out more about NTGD here and follow the @KISDFoundation on Twitter to retweet any of their posts or @KellerISD’s posts about North Texas Giving Day leading up to the event.

Random Acts of Kindness

We know how important kindness is because we’ve all felt how important it is. But that’s not the only reason we know. Scientific studies have shown that random acts of kindness are good for you! They improve your life satisfaction by increasing your sense of belonging and self- worth, and they improve your health by decreasing your anxiety, depression and blood pressure. And here’s the best part: these benefits apply to the giver of kindness, the recipient of kindness, and anyone who witnesses the act! Every act improves the lives of at least three people.

So, why kindness? Scientifically? Because it’s good for your health. Economically? Because it’s free. Practically? Because it’s easy. Socially? Because it improves the world.

But the real reason, of course... is that kindness is the key to lasting happiness.

These are the acts of kindness planned for this week:

Sept. 19 Ask a friend how they are and really listen

Sept. 20 Spend the day saying only nice things about and to other people

Sept. 21 Give a silly cartoon/ picture or a note to 5 people

Sept. 22 Offer to help a friend

Sept. 23 Give gentle high fives to people today

Vocabulary

We will be studying these words this week. Please review them with your child.

Sept. 19 loathe: to have a strong dislike for

Sept. 20 simultaneously: at the same time

Sept. 21 imperative: important, urgent

Sept. 22 feasible: possible, capable of

Severe Weather Dismissal

If lightning or other adverse conditions are present, all outdoor activities cease, including the loading of buses and the release of students. If our campus initiates a “Severe Weather Dismissal,” all students are held in their homeroom class except those whose parents have signed a severe weather waiver. Throughout the duration of the weather event, non-waiver students remain in their homeroom class unless a parent enters the building, presents appropriate identification, and physically escorts him/her out of the building. Once the severe weather subsides, students will once again be allowed to exit the building. If you are interested in more information about Keller ISD’s severe weather policy, please visit this link:http://bit.ly/1dV9v8x . Please sign up to receive instant text messages in case of an emergency by following the instructions below.
