Hybrid Learning Model to Begin
For all 5 day and Hybrid students
We are very excited to have children return to campus over the next two weeks. Our Corte Sierra staff has been very busy preparing and perfecting every last detail to welcome our Falcons back into the classroom. Student and staff safety is the utmost importance to us and will remain at the forefront of everything we do. Physical distancing, PPE and disinfecting measures will occur routinely throughout the course of the day.
All students who have chosen the hybrid or the 5 day in person learning model will be returning on the dates listed below following the hybrid format.
- Kindergarten - 2nd Grade will begin Wednesday 9/16 (A Cohort)
- 3rd - 5th Grade will begin Monday 9/21 (A Cohort)
The schedule is as follows:
- Monday = A Day (B students will be learning remotely on the A day)
- Tuesday = B Day (A students will be learning remotely on the B day)
- Wednesday = A Day (B students will be learning remotely on the A day)
- Thursday = B Day (A students will be learning remotely on the B day)
- Friday = C Day ( Both A and B cohorts will be learning remotely on Fridays)
Our campus opens at 7:45 AM, students may come for breakfast or head straight to their classroom any time between 7:45 AM and 8:10 AM. Multiple entrances will be open for student arrival with staff stationed throughout the campus to assist students to their classrooms and/or the cafeteria for breakfast. Staff members can be easily identified as they will be wearing Corte Sierra school spirit attire and an ID badge.
If a student arrives a few minutes after the bell, the courtyard gate will remain open for students in an effort to prevent crowding in the front office. This gate will close approximately 30 minutes after the bell rings (First bell rings at 8:10 AM). Additional information can be found under the COVID Arrival Procedures.
Supplies
This year we will not be sharing supplies. It is recommended students come to school with a backpack and their own supplies. (If you need assistance with this please contact our office at 623-547-1000). If students do not have a needed supply we will have new or sanitized materials on hand to loan out. Supply wish lists can be found on our website. You can access this by clicking here.
Student Safety is Our Top Priority
Closed Campus
Our campus will be closed to all outside guests, only students and staff will be able to enter.
Visitors and volunteers will not be permitted at this time.
Bus Lanes
The bus lane in the East parking lot will be closed off to traffic when the buses are here. This lane may open and close throughout the morning as buses arrive for safety reasons. We will open the lane whenever possible to assist with the flow of traffic.
Masks
It will be a requirement for masks to be worn by both staff and students while on campus. It is recommended that students have an extra mask available in their backpacks in the event something unexpected happens to their mask (IE. it gets wet, dirty, etc).
COVID Arrival Procedures
Students can arrive to school as early as 7:45 AM every morning. Multiple gates and doors on both sides of the campus will be open for students. When dropping off your child, we ask that you pull all the way forward even if it is farther away from the entrance to help with the flow of traffic. If you must park, we also ask that you escort your child to the crosswalk for safety reasons. Parents will not be able to be on campus for the time being. We greatly appreciate your support with this.
Dismissal Procedures
Corte Sierra has worked closely with Litchfield Elementary School District's Transportation Department and local law enforcement to design an effective and safe protocol for student drop off and pick up. For the safety and health of your child(ren) we will dismiss students grades K-2 from their classrooms to the East lot at 2:30 and grades 3-5 to the South parking lot (front of the school) at 2:50 PM. All parents are asked to stay in your car and wait patiently for students to be escorted to your vehicle. We will not have a park and walk area this year to eliminate waiting in large groups of people.
To pick up your child in the valet line, we ask that you place the unique student code (will be given to you by your child's teacher) in your front window. A staff member will be stationed in the parent pick up lane communicating this code with classroom teachers for your students to be released to you. Parents will need to remain in the vehicle at all times for safety and efficiency.
If you are walking to pick up your child we ask that you inform the classroom teacher of where you will be meeting your child (IE. near the crosswalk, on the sidewalk). If you would like to wait outside of the campus you will need to wait appropriately spaced on the brick wall near the flag pole. Multiple teachers will be stationed outside around the campus to help assist you in picking up your child. To pick up students you will need to have your child's unique code readily available, if you do not have the code you will be asked to go to the front office with ID to obtain the code. Only those listed as parents/guardians/emergency contacts will be given this code. If this person is not on the list, parents will be notified right away.
