Celebrating Matariki 8th July

Kia ora ma whanau te kura Kotuku Lauriston,

As confirmed in yesterday's newsletter our community feedback shows majority support for our Matariki celebrations to take place on the 8 July, 2022:

The main thrust of the day is centred around our first Lauriston Hangi. We are cutting a track together. It is a learning process designed for students and whanau - engaging in partnership to complete the kaupapa - learning together.

As we approach the end of term, upon reflection we are conscious of just how tired our students, families and staff are. Our survey responses also reflect this in the feedback we received-which clearly showed us what people are able to commit to at this time.

For that reason we have chosen to postpone the Powhiri-Welcome for new families and Te Whare Pou Matauranga Workshop for parents to the beginning of Term 3.

Our main focus will therefore be on the Hangi, Tree Planting and End of Term Assembly-times consistent with those previously advertised:

The Hangi 4.30am-1.30pm

Kai Time 12.30pm-1.30pm

End of Term Assembly 1.30pm (followed by tree planting)
