Student Growth and Goals
Student Voice and Collaborative Decision Making
There are new suggestion box forms in the hallway for students to fill out. The feedback we received from music in the lunchroom was that it was still loud during kindergarten lunch, 1st, 2nd and 5th grade lunch seemed to enjoy it. We are considering doing the music only on Fridays. Also, we are not putting a compost tub/bin in each classroom. Some teachers already have a system set up in place in their own rooms. There is a compost bin in the lunchroom and outside if teachers decide to have their students put their food in there.
Student, Staff & Family Engagement
Student Leadership Roles
We discussed how clubs are going for the year. We brainstormed ways to streamline the process for next year:
-Make three "sessions" fall, winter, spring that clubs can start and end
-Better communication of what clubs are happening and when
-Teachers being more descriptive on applications about the commitment and expectations of the club
-Capping how many clubs students are in??
-Encourage more K-2 Clubs

Enjoying the Ride
Favorite Memory of a recent school experience:
My favorite memory of WHS is the love that I have felt from all of the day to day interactions I have had with my students, with their parents and with my colleagues.
Fondest Memory of your own elementary experience:
One of my favorite memories was from when I was in 5th grade. It was the last week of school My fondest memory of school was getting caught throwing a snowball at my brother. My consequence was to go to the principal's office and cut snowballs (circles) out of corrugated cardboard with dull primary scissors. The reason it became my favorite memory is because that same principal gave me my dream job; he hired me to teach at Hammerschmidt.
Words That Describe Me:
Hardworking, Caring, Thoughtful
Bucket List:
One thing on my bucket list is to view the Northern Lights while in Alaska.
What is your hidden talent?
Making chili and entering it in a public chili cook off. My next one is in October. Wish me luck!
What advice would you give to someone just starting off their career in education?
Be prepared for each lesson and remember when using new materials for math or science to let the students explore first.
What is the last joke that you recall:
In a Catholic school cafeteria, a nun places a note in front of a pile of apples, "Only take one. God is watching." Further down the line is a pile of cookies. A little boy makes his own note, "Take all you want. God is watching the apples."
Best Concert Experience:
There have been so many, but to be honest it is the Christmas/Holiday concert that Glenbard East puts on each year. The students are so very talented and the teachers/directors bring out the best in them.
