Wet Winter Weather - Please make sure your child dresses appropriately

One of many things I love about Chester Elementary School is this phrase about our students being "tough mountain kids." This philosophy fits perfectly with my prior experiences - we want to help support raising resilient students who can withstand a little weather. Throughout these next few months, we are going to have days at school where we have rain and snow. In most instances, we will be sending students outside for a break to play and get some fresh air. Therefore, it's important that we all pay attention to the weather and dress appropriately - water resistant jackets or coats, water-resistant boots, warm pants, gloves, etc. We appreciate your understanding. Please let me know if you have questions, concerns, special circumstances, or considerations.

Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports at CES

CES, along with the entire school district, promotes a positive behavior program entitled Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS). This program teaches students expected behaviors and rewards students for making good choices. Students are given "Mountain Money" from staff members when they make good choices and help other students and staff. They may use this money to either be placed in a weekly drawing, or save their money to spend in the school's student store. The store is open during students' recess time on Wednesdays and has a variety of materials including school supplies and trinkets. Students may also purchase events, such as a special PE time, lunch with the principal, fishing with the principal, or even the opportunity to wash the principal's and their teacher's truck!

Parents Please Help - A Few Minutes Will Help Us With $$$ For Our Schools!

Now that all Plumas schools are able to offer free breakfast and lunch for all students, and we don't require applications for free or reduced meals, we need to collect income data to qualify for other services, such as Title 1. We've developed a field in our Aeries Student Data Information System for parents to complete this quick and easy process. Please click this link: and follow the "Income verification" (pdf) instructions attached to this newsletter.

We appreciate you taking the time to complete this process. Thank you!

Site Council Members Needed

CES is in need of parents to serve on our site council team. We are required to meet a minimum of 3 times/year to discuss and approve our school plan and safety plan. We will most likely meet after school (3:00). If you are interested, or would like to nominate a parent/guardian, please contact Alan Reeder at 258-3194 or email at . Thanks!
