Exciting news! XQ is once again working with award-winning international artist JR and his renowned Inside Out Project to build a new and improved XQ Yearbook. We are so proud of the incredible resilience and hard work you’ve all done this year and can’t wait to feature the faces and captions of XQ students as we launch this nationwide.
Last year, we had over 18,000 grads from across the country participate as part of the Graduate Together television special. This year, we’re inviting ALL high school grade levels to submit their photo, leave their mark, and make an impact. We asked students what mattered most to them and based on what we learned, we’re donating $2 per approved submission in support of student mental health.
Want to see how your students can participate? Check out this explainer video (pw: xq).
Here are some bonus ways to get your school community involved:
Direct your students to XQYEARBOOK.COM, (password: xqyearbook) so they can be among the first submitters and have increased visibility in the XQ Yearbook feed.
Register for the XQ Schools Early Access Yearbook Party on Tuesday, May 25th from 4-5 p.m. PST / 7-8 p.m. EST to learn more about XQ Yearbook—and some special activations we have planned! Come join, participate in the yearbook, share stories, and connect with others in the XQ community.
Use the toolkit to share early access to the XQ Yearbook with students in your community—and encourage them to participate! Find sample emails to send to your students and parents.
Together, let’s build the largest high school digital yearbook ever!

MASK WEARING STILL MANDATORY ON VISTA CAMPUSES
On Monday, May 17, the Health and Human Services Secretary, Dr. Mark Ghaly, made this statement that the state will not be changing its face covering guidance to align with the new CDC recommendations for vaccinated people at this time. As a result, face coverings are still required in all CA state office spaces and learning and teaching spaces in our schools and classrooms, including outdoor spaces (except when eating/drinking).
All people who come on to Vista Unified School District campuses, including Vista High School, must wear a mask in accordance with state and county guidelines for the use of face coverings.

Vista Unified Vista Virtual 2.0 for 2021 - 2022 School Year Interest Survey
We remain committed to supporting families as we transition back to in-person learning in the fall. As promised, our team has been working on alternative options for students who may need to continue in a virtual learning format during the 2021-22 school year. In our initial stages of planning, we are consolidating the virtual learning model into one school.
Please respond to the following survey by Friday June 11, 2021 if you are interested in having your child enroll in Vista Virtual 2.0 next year. We will share updates about program details with you in the coming weeks so that you are able to make an informed decision. We will open the registration and transfer process in mid-July 2021. It is important to note that once enrolled in the new Vista Virtual 2.0, this commitment will need to be for the entire school year so that we are able to arrange for appropriate staffing.

Seniors - Quick Survey Needed!
Hey Class of 2021!
I need to know if you have earned any scholarships or awards.
Many 4-year colleges may have included a scholarship as part of your award package (so make sure to check). You may have also applied to a local scholarship and won.
I want to make sure you are included in the Senior Awards Event for EVERY and ALL scholarships you have won.
As well, I want to know WHERE you are headed after graduation. What college have you accepted and signed with, going to community college, military, apprenticeship, etc.
This form will be kept open and you can come back and enter more information or change it as we go. Many seniors win scholarships up to graduation and even after.
Visits by college admissions reps are still taking place before and after school. This is a great opportunity for juniors to start their college exploration process so that they can select next year where to apply. All visits are open to any grade level. No sign up is needed, just click on the zoom link at the time of the visit and you're good to go.
From now until the end of April is peak Scholarship season. Seniors need to be searching for and applying for scholarships dollars. There is a scholarship for just about everyone. Make sure your senior is checking the Scholarship Bulletin on a regular basis and checking the College & Career Center google classroom. Many local scholarships will be coming up over the following months and local and regional scholarships are ones our seniors win each year.
Are you interested in starting your own scholarship or have one to promote to our students? Please contact Mr. Soderback (email@example.com).
Employment - Students who are looking for a job can join us every other Tuesday after school for JOB LAB online. Register here for upcoming sessions.
Students who do get a job and are under 18 will need to have a work permit application signed by one of their parents, the new employer and Vista High School. The entire process is done online via email this year. This is the work permit application that needs to be filled in and emailed to Mr. Soderback (firstname.lastname@example.org).

School Accountability Reports (SARC)
State law requires all public schools receiving state funding to prepare and distribute a SARC. The purpose of the report card is to provide parents and the community with important information about each public school. A SARC can be an effective way for a school to report on its progress in achieving goals. The public may also use a SARC to evaluate and compare schools on a variety of indicators. A hard copy will be made available upon request at the school site.
The SARC contains all of the following:
- Demographic data
- School safety and climate for learning information
- Academic data
- School completion rates
- Class sizes
- Teacher and staff information
- Curriculum and instruction descriptions
- Postsecondary preparation information
- Fiscal and expenditure data

Vista High School Honor V Awards
Each year Vista High School celebrates Honor V.
The Honor “V” Awards originated in 1984, with the first honoree being the late Tony Duran.
Since that time, specially selected individuals are honored each year that have contributed to VHS students and the community over a significant period of time.
Following the ceremony, the awardees’ names are engraved on a perpetual plaque and are on permanent display in the Honor “V” Quad at Vista High School.
The Honor V award is the highest award recognized each year at Vista High School.
This Year we are happy to announce that our 2020 Honor V Recipients are :
