Field Flash
January 11, 2021
Dear Field Parents and Guardians,
Happy New Year! We hope you and your children have had a smooth transition back to school and work routines. We were glad to welcome our Field students back to school this week, and we are looking forward to continued success together in 2021.
As we move into January, we are preparing to welcome students back into the school building for in-person instruction while continuing to engage with our students who will remain fully remote. I will include some reminders (first shared back in October) that may be helpful as we prepare for students to attend in-person.
These reminders include:
- In-person learning reminders
- Arrival and dismissal information
- Lunch and bus reminders
- Student expectations (presentation and videos) reminders
I'd also like to remind families of the recommended 14-day travel quarantine. If your family has traveled and your child is an in-person student, we do recommend that you adhere to the 14-day quarantine. Please also call the main office to let us know, so we can plan for your child to remain fully remote rather than attending in person.
I also want to remind you that our next student materials pick-up date is Wednesday, January 13th from 7:30-8:45 a.m. Teachers will let you know if your child will have items to pick up. If you aren't able to make that time, please know all items will be available in the office, and the office is open each school day.
Finally, for our 5th grade families, please be sure to review the information for the upcoming Emerson Middle School Open House.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Courtney Goodman
Principal

- Please have children wear a mask and bring an extra in their backpack.

Lunch and Bus Reminders
If your child rides the bus and you have any route related questions, please contact our main office.
Student Expectations Reminders
We'd also like to share this new resource, created by our school social worker Genny Chesney. The stories may be especially helpful for our younger students.
Letter from Mrs. Alaimo, Emerson's Principal
Hello Future Emerson Families,
I know your elementary school principal has communicated this information to you, but I would like to take the opportunity to formally introduce myself and invite you to our virtual Open House.
On Wednesday, January 20th from 6-6:35pm, we invite all incoming 6th grade families and students to virtually attend an informational session with members of our Emerson school staff. We will discuss the transition process, schedules, and the 6th grade experience. This event is meant for both students and parents.
At 7:10pm, we also encourage families to also attend the core and encore elective program presentation. Core electives include any classes centered around the exploration of language arts, social studies, mathematics, and science. Encore electives include classes pertaining to world languages, art, music, industrial technology (INTE), family and consumer sciences (FACS), technology, or physical education (PE). Our elective teachers will be available to answer any questions families or students may have about our offerings. Please feel free to attend one or both sessions to ask any questions.
There is no RSVP for this session. We will be hosting this session through a Zoom Webinar Conference. A recording of the 6th grade presentation at 6pm will be sent out to all families for those who cannot attend live.

Join the PTO
Field PTO membership is now open!
The Field PTO continues to support Field staff and students even with the unusual start of the 2020-'21 school year. Membership helps fund a variety of PTO activities from electronic books, staff appreciation events, lanyards for masks to the operational costs of the PTO. We anticipate a decrease in overall funds raised this year, so your membership is critical this year!
In addition to supporting PTO activities, your $15 membership fee includes access to the online directory on AtoZ Connect. If you become a member in October, you can also receive a free Field CARES yard sign!
