Giving for Thanksgiving

Submitted by Sra. Mars

Our 8th grade Advisory students and families, with the support of other Tamanend families and staff, provided Thanksgiving meals complete with turkey, stuffing, gravy, fresh and canned vegetables, bread, pies and cookies to 15 Tamanend families this year. Special thanks to 9th grade NJHS officers Danny K., Erin S., Delaney O. and Haley S. for organizing the project and to several other NJHS members for sorting and packing the contributions after school.

8th Grade Philadelphia Trip

Submitted by Mrs. McFarland

8th grade students experienced historic Philadelphia and the brand new Museum of the American Revolution. Students went on a guided tour of the Museum of the American Revolution and got to smell the tea dumped into the harbor, listen to the sounds of battle, see the weapons used, touch a section of the last living Liberty Tree. Additionally, they explored such historic sites as Christ Church, Independence Hall, and Franklin Court. It was an epic and revolutionary trip!

Attorney General's Office on Cyberbullying

On Wednesday, November 15th, we were excited to host Mr. David Shallcross and Mr. Anthony Luker from the Office of the Attorney General. They presented to our 7th and 8th graders on bullying, along with other behaviors when using technology. The presentation was interactive, where student input was appreciated. Our “Junior Agents” showed their RoAR while participating in discussions during the assembly. Students then met with their Tiger’s Eye group’s to further discuss this important topic and help us identify how we can recognize these behaviors and what to do about it.

The acronym, “IMPACT”, can help us remember how to appropriately handle a situation on social media.

Make an IMPACT online

Ignore the bully

Manage your reaction (don’t retaliate!)

Plan what to do

Alert an Adult

Civil Behavior

Think before you type!!!

Winter Dance Notes

We are looking forward to our Winter Dance on December 1st. It is a more dressy, but not formal, dance. It starts at 7:30 p.m. and students must have their 2017-2018 Tamanend Middle School ID card with them as they enter the dance. The dance is over at 9:30 p.m. We ask that those families driving to Tamanend from the direction of Kelly Road, please drop off and pick up in the bus loop. Those families that approach Tamanend from the Bristol Road direction, please drop off and pick up using the main lot (by the tennis courts). Following this traffic pattern will alleviate some congestion on Stuckert Road and keep traffic moving smoothly.
