Sliding into Third
May, 2022
Message from J. Desto
We are rounding the bases folks! This will be our last FULL month in the 2021-2022 school year and I just cannot believe it. Where did this year go? I know that each month I have been writing about how things are just moving along so quickly. The fact that we are really close to the end is just unbelievable!!! With that being said, we have a lot of fun things planned for our students and are extremely hopeful that we are able to create some lasting memories. April came and went so fast that I am not even sure I changed the calendar from March! I am hoping that May will slow down just a bit!
One quick reminder! Please be sure that your child(ren) is dressed appropraitely for outside play. With the nice weather here, we need to get out as much as possible.
I hope you all have a wonderful May and to all our Mother's out there, HAPPY MOTHER's DAY!!
Sincerely,
Jen D.
ATTENTION ALL GRADE 1 FAMILIES
We will be having a Grade 1 promotional (nothing fancy) starting at 1pm. Each family will be provided with 2 tickets. Due to the size of our cafetorium, we can only fit so many people. You will be receiving 2 tickets that you will need to have in order to get into the promotional. There are no additional tickets for other members of the family. My sincere apology. I do request that we keep small siblings at home unless they can sit on your lap.
On June 8th (raindate June 15th), students will visit Dudley Elementary School so they can have a tour and meet some of the 2nd grade teachers!! This visit is not extremely long as field day activities are held immediately after.
Parent(s)/Caregiver(s)! I have a HUGE ask of you! If you are comfortable having your child(ren) in a slide show, would you please email me pictures from the first day of K, last day of K, and first day of grade 1 if you have them? You can email them to jdesto@dcrsd.org. THANK YOU very much!! If you can email no later than June 10th, I would greatly appreciate it.
MRS FIELD DAY 2022!!!
The end of the school year is right around the corner, and that means it's almost time for........
FIELD DAY!
MRS will hold its field day program for Kindergarten and First Grade at the Dudley Little League fields on June 8, 2022 (with a rain date of June 15, 2022) from 9:30am - 12:00pm. Students in Grade 1 will be dropped off at Dudley Elementary prior to the start of Field Day for their tour of Grade 2.
We will have community volunteers from both the Dudley Police Department and the Dudley Fire Department. Depending on the amount of volunteers we get, we may reach out for parent volunteers.
We are looking forward to this event and we know the kids are too! A letter will be sent home closer to the event date with more details.
Thank you!
Mr. Davis
Dudley Middle School Students Come to Mason Road
Suzy Q's Ice Cream Truck is Coming to Mason Road!!!
On June 14th, Kindergarten and Grade 1 students will also be able to enjoy a delicious treat. Kindergarten will visit the Ice Cream Truck at 1 pm and then Grade 1 will be able to grab their special treat directly following their promotion.
The Ice Cream Truck will have the following options available:
Cotton Candy bars
Bubble Gum bars
Strawberry Shortcake
Chocolate Eclairs
Ice Cream Sandwich
You can find all the ingredients by visiting Rich's Ice Cream. For those with allergies, we are well aware however, if there is a special treat that you can recommend, please be sure to email myself or Nurse Webert so we are prepared and so that your child(ren) can participate. If you wish for your child(ren) to NOT receive anything off of the Ice Cream Truck, please be sure to let the classroom teacher, or myself, know as soon as possible.

News From Title One!
News from Nurse Webert
Happy May!
Just a quick reminder- If you no longer want to receive a COVID test every other week please notify me through an email, phone call, or note in your students folder and I will take you off the list.
As the weather gets warmer the mosquitos, ticks, and poison ivy are emerging. I am happy to apply anti-itch lotion (Gold bond brand) and calamine where it is needed during the day.
Poison Ivy- The best preventative for poison ivy is wearing long pants and high socks in the woods and showering within 30 minutes of coming in contact with the oils. The pharmacy also sells an over-the-counter soap for removing the oils before you see a rash if your family spends a lot of time in the woods.
Ticks- The best preventative for ticks is also long pants and high socks in the woods, nightly tick checks, and teaching your student what a tick looks like. Ticks don't just come from the woods they can be in long grass and ride into the house on the family dog or someone's clothing. Ticks are attracted to heat so help your student check in their hair, armpits, and behind their ears. Not every tick carries Lyme but if you find a tick on your student monitor the bite for the next 30 days for the trademark red rings.
Enjoy spring!
Thank you,
