Title Wide School
As many of you know, Central Emerson is a school-wide Title school. What this means to you and your children is that we have much more flexibility to help students at their academic level. We will continue to assess our students regularly with formal and informal “checks” and group students with similar strengths. Our teachers will be meeting regularly as grade level teams to make groupings and our Educational Assistants will be working in and out of the classrooms to help provide small group instruction, acceleration and enrichment. In addition, all of our teachers and para educators have met the requirements of being “Highly Qualified.”
We have streamlined our Read At Home program. In grades K-2 your child will be taking home a bookbag daily/weekly with books at their reading level to practice and return to school. In grade 3-6, students in reading intervention will also be taking home a bookbag to practice daily. Look for these bags to start coming home in October for grade 1-6. Kindergarten bookbags will start in February.
This is an exciting time to be at Central Emerson. Our entire staff is working very hard to provide the very best education for your child. We care deeply about each child’s academic growth and look forward to partnering with you to make this a very successful school year. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact your child’s teacher.
If you have any additional questions about Title/LAP supplemental services or teacher qualifications please call Teresa Jackson our district coordinator at 360-563-7304.
Warmly,
Central Emerson staff
Counselors Corner
Thank you Central Emerson families for helping make Start With Hello week such a success last week! It brought us so much joy to watch students saying hello to one another, making new friends, and being intentional about including others so no one feels left out. We look forward to continuing to support students, classrooms, and teachers in creating learning environments full of empathy, compassion, and kindness.
There are some resources available to families with financial need that can help with student clothing, food, and public transportation. See below for details and please reach out to us with questions or concerns.
Operation School Bell:

Gold Creek Church/Mill Creek Food Bank has a program that helps provide students with supplemental dry food/snacks for the weekend. The bags of food are delivered on Fridays at school for students to take home with them to have over the weekend. Please reach out if you are interested in your student participating.
Free Youth Transit Orca Card:
Snohomish County has distributed Orca Cards for youth riding public transportation. School counselors have some cards to distribute to families with financial hardship as needed. Please reach out if this is a resource your student could benefit from.
