POSITIVE REFERRAL DRAWING
Nichelle Apodaca Rocha (senior) and Mark Damacion (sophomore) are CHS’s spring semester Positive Referral drawing winners and the recipients of new chrome books. 255 students were recognized this semester for going above and beyond and exhibiting excellence in character, and their names were entered into a drawing for chrome books purchased with the money CHS earned through participation in the School Cents program. Thanks to all of the students recognized, and thank you for shopping at Chandler Fashion Center and supporting the School Cents fundraiser.
JUNIOR OLYMPIC NATIONALS MEDALIST
Congratulations to junior Cienna Samiley who competed at Junior Olympic Nationals in Indianapolis last weekend! Cienna competed against the top Level 10 gymnasts in the country and medaled on the Uneven Bars with a score of 9.675. She placed 14th All-Around in the nation.
Video of her gymnastics routines on the Uneven Bars, Balance Beam, Vault, and Floor Exercise can be viewed below.
The ASU Gammage HSMTA ceremony was this past Saturday night, and Chandler High was very well represented! CHS's Les Miserables made Top Ten in almost every category. Twenty-five members of the cast got to perform "One Day More" on the Gammage stage, and it was amazing! The cast learned that the show made Top Ten in the state! The awards received for the night were Faith Sterling-Best Supporting Actress, Casey Likes-Best Vocalist, and Casey Likes-Best Male Lead. The last award makes Casey eligible for the National Jimmy Awards, so ASU Gammage is flying him to NYC June 16-25 where he will be representing AZ and CHS at the national awards competition! It was a very exciting and rewarding night, to say the least!
ALUMNI SCHOLARSHIP WINNER
Will Kemper won the CHS Alumni $1,000 Scholarship by submitting this terrific video. Thirty-two seniors submitted a one-minute video explaining what being a Wolf means to them, and Will captured it beautifully!
END-OF-YEAR CHOIR CONCERT
Last Monday’s End-Of-Year Choir Concert was the perfect way to wrap up the performance season. All choirs performed beautifully, and Ms. Lyford named award winners from each group. The audience even got a sneak preview of the choir’s graduation performance. Well done!
AVID COMMUNITY SERVICE
AVID sophomores completed a Spirit of Giving Project, a community service project designed to give students the opportunity to give back to their community. Students researched an organization where they could complete at least five hours of service. The project culminated in a reflection essay and poster that highlighted their experience.
