January 2016 Online Edition

Principal's Message

Dear Families and Friends of Boone School,

Hello and Happy Holidays to everyone! As many of you know, I recently became a mom to a beautiful baby boy! It has been an amazing holiday season for me, and I hope you all are having a wonderful and peaceful vacation. I have taken some time away from Boone to stay home with my family. However, I look forward to seeing everyone again in January. I'm especially excited about having Chicago Cares and Target return once again to Boone for our annual day of service over the Martin Luther King, Jr. weekend. I hope many of you will join us to continue to beautify Boone!

Enjoy your Winter Break and we will see everyone when school resumes on January 4th, 2016. Happy New Year!

Sincerely,

Jackie Delaney, Principal

Attendance Update

School-wide we are currently at 95.9% attendance for the year--SO CLOSE to our goal of 96%! January and February can be tough months for attendance with cold and sickness, so please keep up the great work with getting your students to come to school every day unless they are really sick. Let’s make 96% this year!!!!

Chicago Cares Returns to Boone!

Chicago Cares and Target will return to Boone School for a day of service on Saturday, 1/16/16! Our own Boone Cares Club comprised of 7th and 8th grade students with Advisor Ms. Plaza will also be in attendance to work on several volunteer projects. All families are invited to attend anytime between 8:30AM-12:00 noon to assist with volunteering to beautify our school. Students in grades 6-8 may attend on their own with a signed permission slip. Students in grades PK-5 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.

Spelling Bee

The Spelling Bee is coming up! Students in grades 3-8 will participate in the Boone Bees on January 12 and 13. The winner will advance to the next level of city-wide competition, with the chance to advance to regional, state, and eventually even possibly to the Scripps National Bee in Washington, D.C.!
